It won't fix display bugs like not seeing the corpse in 12m raids, but I don't think I've crashed once since doing the steps in that video.

It apparently isn't 100% ... but 99% is better than 80%. Rome Red is still apparently a disaster. But ICC and OA were high crash spots for me, too, and not crashing there is doggone nice. And since I run at 2560x1600 the old engine just didn't do it for me.

Once that is stable ... if you want to play with an ENB-like (if you're not familiar with ENB it is a custom shader injector that lets you modify the look of the rendered game), see this thread:

(note: I'm using Reshader, not Sweetfx, links at the end of that forums thread)

I've actually had Reshader enabled all day as well, so it didn't crash me. However I'm running a 1060 GTX so I have a pretty modern card. If you have an older card and want to keep your FPS maxed don't bother with the injectors ... just get your New Engine stable with the first link.

update: I still crash, usually daily, but rarely compared to before.

IF you want to make the New Engine shine ... literally ... use Reshade.

I've done a lot of tweaking to my Reshade to both speed it up and to optimize display (for me).

Once installed, use the "SHIFT+F2" menu in-game to tune things to your liking. There are places where my settings are too bright (like Jobe platform and the stairs inside Redeemed Temples, but those were always bright). I like Godrays because they make things shine. Literally. Like your Yalmaha in the sun? That's going to look like a car windshield reflecting the sun at you. But other things like lightbars get a nice mellow glow.

To tune Reshade, notice that you ENABLE a module in the top half of Shift+F2. You CONFIGURE that module in the bottom half of the Shift+F2 options.

If you just want to use my settings, see below.

Once you have the modules you want enabled, you can DISABLE unused modules by renaming them.

Go to where you have the AO New Engine installed (not your Prefs). For me it is: C:\Games\AO\Anarchy Online ... for you it will be different.

Once there, go to 'reshade-shaders\Shaders' sub-directory.

Make a new sub-directory called 'Unused'.

Move all of the modules you don't want to the Unused directory.

For instance, I ONLY use these:
AdaptiveSharpen.fx
AmbientLight.fx
Bloom.fx
HDR.fx
RBM.fx
Tonemap.fx
Vibrance.fx

ALSO ... you MUST keep ReShade.fxh in that folder, don't move it or you break Reshade.

Any other .fx modules I move to 'Unused' so you don't have to wait for them to load.

IMPORTANT: if you want things to look good, make SURE you've followed the YouTube video in the first post. That enables Ambient Occlusion and that is what gives you volumetric lighting (ie, buildings will block light properly).

Anyway ... to use my settings you can just edit your "Anarchy Online.ini" (stored in your AO Program Folder, created by the Reshade when you configure it for Anarchy Online) file with these contents:

That would be fine :)

I'd like to get testing feedback on it though. Bulldrone has done it so I think it is sound. Always good to check.
