Penumbra Sanctuary Key Quest

Post by elmurfud »

The Penumbra Cama Sanctuary Key quest is started by talking to the Forester near the save tree in Cama's Garden.

The dialogue path is too obvious to insult your intelligence by spelling it out. Nonetheless, he does say something that will lead you to believe he has provided you with a calibration tuner. Part of the mission description will reinforce the impression you were supposed to get one. Heck, maybe you WERE supposed to get one, but you don't. You just have to go buy it from a Yuttos Tools shop.

There are no Yuttos Tools in Penumbra, however, so you will need to go to Adonis or Elysium (the easiest ones to get to at this time, since stupid clan Scheol garden key quest is still somewhat broke). While at the Yuttos also buy a screwdriver so you can adjust the Calibration Tuner.

Once you have the calibration tuner set to the wrong offset, you can head off to the first of seven "use item" type missions in Penumbra. You can upload the coordinates of each mission to your map the same way you would with a normal mission on Rubi-Ka, by right clicking the mission icon and dragging over to the grid icon.

The missions are pretty simple, you don't even have to kill anything if you don't want. Just find the machine, pick up the tuner from your inventory and right click on the target. The machine can be a little difficult to spot if you don't know quite what you are looking for because unlike the target machine in Rubi-Ka missions, they don't stand out quite so obviously. The are the same general colour theme as the rest of the mission area and might or might not have notum

Now you just have to kill 10 mobs and you get your key. All of the unredeemed mobs can be found in the area of the unredeemed temple in the northeast, but several are on the interior and if you are under level 203 it means fighting your way through a lot of aggroing others to get to the ones you want. Therefore I will be pointing out the easiest places to reach these mobs, even though it means more travel time. As with the garden quest writeup, the world map I used to show the location in the zone is the uncluttered Funcom map even though I generally prefer and use SphereMap.

1. Calun-Cur - Leader

Two are just to the SW of the Omni garden statue at Penumbra Fortress. There are another two at the base of the stairs by the Omni sanctuary statue at their temple.

2. Rawa-El - Marked!

A couple are on the tower NW of the Omni garden statue (north of the Calun-Cur - Leader).

3. Buran-Kuiri - Leader

Head up to the unredeemed temple as though you were going to a Vanya raid and the normal clan gathering spot (on RK-2 at least) to the north of the temple entrance. On that side of the stairs, on a tower, is your assassination target. Should be fairly easy to pull along or with minimal adds.

Note that it is Kuiri, with an "i" at the end. There is a Buran-Kuir, no final "i", on the other side of temple

4. Chimera Cranii - Marked

Now go on back to the Penumbra Fortress area, where these little guys hang out aroung the incarnator

5. Malah-Ea - Leader

This mob hangs out just north of the pipe up near the cliff wall, as part of a little boss camp (boss drops 'Imk pattern pieces, for what it is worth). A few spinetooths around too, very easy to get adds.

6. Baran-Kuir - Leader

This is the counterpart to the Baran-Kuiri that you killed as the third mob. It is on a similar tower top to the southeast of the stairs to the temple. Some are also inside the temple but this should be easiest to pull alone.

7. Eron-Cur - Leader

This is an orange-winged mob like the Calun-Cur. There are a couple at the bottom of the stairs by the unredeemed temple, but it is easier to get to the ones that are on the NW side of the Omni garden statue at Penumbra

Your last three mobs are the Prophet, Omega and Vanya that you normally encounter during a Vanya faction raid. Because you have assassinate missions for each of them, you need to be part of the team that wins looting rights (by doing the most team damage) on each of the three. If you are part of a raid that involves more than one team, be sure to let the leader know that you are doing the sanctuary quest so they can ensure you are on the damage team.

After Vanya falls, the sanctuary key will immediately appear in your inventory.
