The Collector - Guide and Walkthrough (Major spoiler)

The Collector "The Basketball Instance".

The collector is a new instance with 4 Encounters.

First encounter:

One Big Spirit "The Collected Essence" (lvl 300) with a bunch of small spirits.
The collected essence spirit can't be attacked while it is big. It becomes small and attackable when a small spirit dies. In sum, kill a small spirit, the big one becomes small.. do damage to this collected essence till it becomes big again, kill another small spirit till the collected essence becomes small again. repeat this process till it dies.


Second encounter:

Sister Botanicus (lvl 300)

You'll see a few 'plants' around this boss. These plants heal the Sister Botanicus if they life. To kill the sister it is needed to kill the plants.

( i think it has to do with the 'green' circle that goes around. I suspect that each time the green circle is at a spot where a plant is alive, that this will heal the sister botanicus)

Each time one of the plants dies it will pop 'cocoons' on players. These cocoons will stun that player for 10 seconds, unless the cocoon gets killed (by pets or a player that is not cooned). Cocoons don't do damage.


Third Encounter:

After killing the sister Botanicus, Immortal Guardians are spawned near three walls. There are also spirits around, just kill them when you are near those.
You are not supposed to kill these Guardians, for they are meant to 'bounce/knockback' you over the walls.

Look for the lowest spot in the wall (where the immortal guardian is standing in front). That will be the spot you want to be 'knocked over'.

Tactic, let one player do this at a time, others wait till the other one gets over. The player will first lure (use the q button ;) ) the guardian, than stand in front of the wall (near the lowest spot in the wall, and far enough away from the wall to make a arch movement over the wall) to get knocked over the wall.
Do this for all three walls.

Fourth Encounter.

After these walls you'll encounter the Secretary (lvl 250), which is just a NPC to talk with, and will warp you to the final encounter "The Collector". One person needs to talk to him to activate a nano in all teammembers.

This nano activates a "knock-back-attack" in all players. This will allow you to knockback the mobs in the next encounter. Only one player + all Engineers / Nt's / Traders will be able to use the knockback attack:

The first player that uses the knockback attack will be the only player in the encounter that can use the knockback attack.
NT's, Traders and Engineers will have the knockback attack by default enabling them always to be able to use it in the encounter with the Collector.

When entering the place with the Collector. Nothing happens till the collector is attacked. look around, you'll see Two towers: one with a Red Fire, one with Blue fire.

I believe there are going to be three waves with Shades.

First wave contains one Red Shade and one Blue Shade. Purpose is: Knockback the Red Shade into the Blue Fire.
Knockback the Blue Shade into the Red Fire.


Second wave contains two red shades, two blue shades.

Third wave contains three red shades and three blue shades + 3 Plague Shades.

At that point our collector only had 1/3 hp bar left. Only trouble my team died due to plague shades.

I've been told that Crats can use their mezzes to mezz these shades, making this "basketball"-knockback encounter bit less difficult.

You beat me by posting already a walk-through, Enakur. :D Good job really! Thanks a lot.

We are going to combine it with screenshots we made last night or on test server, with my own preview tips http://www.athenpaladins.org/forums/vie ... f=2&t=5786 (quoted below), and various observations, and we'll have something even greater in the end... and, still, tips and precisions will be welcome!

First, let me remind you we had a few preview pictures there: Now, some information:
  • - The Collector is a high-end instance for a team of 6

    - It is designed to be the hardest challenge for a team ever released in AO

    - It introduces several tricks and mechanisms never seen before

    - The entrance is in Pandemonium, near the portal to instanced Pandemonium (so you need Pande access to play the Collector)

    - The developers refer to The Collector as "the basketball instance"... for reasons you'll find below

    - The instance is a lot about the "knock back" feature: this means that a mob can violently send you backwards... but in the end you'll get a special temporary perk to knock back mobs too! :twisted:

    - You will have to make 3 different mobs knock you back over some high walls, too high for you to jump over them

    - An intermediate female boss has minion plants that heal her.
    • . When you kill a plant, several other plants will spawn and can cocoon the team.
      . These cocoons and those plants will not damage you but you will be stunned until they die. This will happen in around 10 seconds.
      . If you can't kill them and they just die naturally after 10 seconds, they heal the boss totally and instantly.
      . You need to kill the plants extremely fast, even faster than fanatics in Inner Sanctum.
    - Just before the final fight with The Collector, everyone will get a temporary knock-back perk, allowing you to knock-back mobs. This is tricky, so read well the following!

    - Everyone gets the knock-back perk BUT:
    • . ONLY the person who will use it first will be able to use it again!
      . EXCEPT that Engineers, Traders, and NTs can use it when they want!
    - With the perk, you'll try to knock back shade minions into towers.

    - It is much easier if you have a mezzer to mez the shades before you knock them back!

    - The Collector himself will knock back you every 2-3 seconds when his minion shades are released

Addition: Itsallover -who came with his crat- tested the mezzing of the shades (shadows demons) adds in The Collector's lair and he says that they are mezzable not only with the crat nano known as "boss mez" but also with regular SL mez, except they have a very high nano-resist.

Step 1

Kill Essence Collector....... He is a big mob near the door. He has hectic AAD so you wont perk him & sometimes miss with regular hit. Killing the smaller Essence Fragment will make him shrink size, then you can DPS him.

Mezz mobs to get to Sister Botanicus.

Step 2

Kill Sister Botanicus, she coons you will Orchid plants. The Abyss Orchid Sprouts will heal her if left unattended. Kill the plants & DPS the Sister.

Mezz mobs to get to the walls you'll have to cross.

Step 3 (Get some practise)

"Bouncing" is the term I use for being Knock-backed. There are 3 walls you will need to cross to get to The Secretary, they have a few Essence Fragments in between which can kill players if left unattended. It is best to cross each wall as a team so wait for the other before moving onto the next one. You can also kill the Fragments to allow for more time.

The Immortal Guardian is the mob that will "Bounce" or "kick" you over the walls. The 1st on is to the right, the next two on on the far left side. All facing East.

Stand about 10-15 steps away from the wall. The Immortal Guardian MUST face East or the wall you are going to bounce over. Agg him get in position & bounce away.
Go one at a time its easier than everone attacking the mob at once & aggro switching.

Once over the 3rd wall mezz to The Secretary.

Step 4

When all team members are in range speak to The Secretary & be warped into The Collector's chamber.
The Secretary will activate "Dimension Shift" this perk can be found in your control window (Ctrl 2)

Once inside the PF only 1 person can use the Shift attack, the 1st person to use it gets it for the duration of the fight. NT's, Engi's & Traders have it inately so they can use it anytime while inside.

PS I have not tested that if you go in with a NT's, Engi's & Trader & they use the ability 1st if someone else can still activate it.

The Collector......

As stated he spawns Shades, Blue shades need to be bounced into Red Pillar & visa versa for Red shades.
Bouncer - Attack shade & get agg move & place the shade then Bounce him for a field goal & his death. (Mezzed shades cannot be bounced)
Dont be scared to bounce adds off the doc if they have agg.

The last two waves can be messy, avoid standing right in the middle of the PF when the shades spawn as 5-10 or more shades agging you can insta kill you.
The Collector has an AOE - Ini so if ranged stay away out range & out of his knockback zone.

The more shades (Blue & Red), the more The Collector spams his abilities. Best to slow dmg on him while the Bouncers are killing shades.
Mezz The green (Plague Shades) & black (Death Shades)
DO NOT use AOE attacks!!!

A small sploit....... The Collector's Platform
There is a set of stairs, if you stand on the left or right of the stairs you dont get bounced, you only move up the base of the platform a little each go.
It is a reasonably safe spot. However if the tank uses it the collector can loose LoS & run away & heal. If the Doc stands there he can loose LoS on team members.

Team Structure
Any evade prof can tank Collector he is really easy if you are not nano reliant so Adv,MA,Shade,Keeper,Enf,Fixer

A safe team plan is to go with:
Doc,tank,crat & 3 more (Pref an NT,Engi or Trader) I prefer trader for the extra help with Mezzing. This is for an extra Bouncer.

Things to beware of: If your Doc/Crat dies or is getting massive agg, pull mobs off.
If you Bouncer dies - phailed raid

Any LD or Death will exempt you from rolling as you cannot get back into the instance.

Anchor works in Collector Room!!!!!

Engi Recall doesn't

Still have to test if being rooted will not get you knock-backed but thats a hard one to test unless NT or Fixer.
If its not broken, Your not trying hard enough!!
