Moving the ground general to the ship would work, but only if ship invite rules are changed.

...though how this is determined I do not know...
Ship selection rules would apply on that, if they need fixing that's another story.

In terms of roleplaying it would be a "zoom in" to the general area closer to the alien ship not a change of playfield (the latter being the truth concerning game mechanics).

Perhaps a message in the vicinity chat “Alien threat contained, forcefield protecting alien ship breached” would help the roleplaying aspect of things even more.

moving the general to ship would have to flag him as a "ship mob" instead of a "ground mob" and that would change things in terms of drops not sure how that would be accepted by FC, but not a bad idea.

Code mechanics of a mmog are basically the same only graphics engines and network code change kyt if you want me to further comment on that just ask :)

OK, how about the general spawns inside the "teleport field" from the ground to the ship (which is enlarged to provide enough fighting area). Killing the last wave gives a message like "Alien perimeter defences breached" allowing raid team(s) [all members of any team that has done at least 20% of total raid damage to that point] to enter the teleport field and attack the ground General. Once the General dies, the teams have 5 minutes to loot before being automatically teleported into the ship. Anyone not wanting to proceed in the ship can then leave.

In coding terms, it means the spawning of a portal at the CC after the death of the last alien in the last wave. All members of teams "as defined" get a "Teleport Security Override" program in their NCUs at the same time. This enables them to activate the portal.

The result would be that anyone can be invited to join the raid and still get a chance to loot general or enter ship. It will encourage a balancing of teams [I specifically am avoiding working on individuals as, for example, a Doctor will typically not be causing any damage] to prevent people missing out on the general. The only way to spoil this would be to launch an attack right at the start and ensure a consistent level of damage throughout, ie take over the raid right from the start.
