Versions 1.0.2 of BOTH FIXED WIDTH and VARIABLE WIDTH forums are up.
  1. Fixed all the bugs (only minor ones) except one, the lack of the Mark all topics read command in some situations (see the bug thread).
  2. Created a variable width version of the AP style, for the use of extremely large monitors, or for the ones who want the forums almost full-screen.
  3. Improved the slip-over background for the logo in the variable style. (Simulates a city in the background.)
    Note that the Variable width style now leavs a very small margin on each side of the forums, so the page background is visible. This is done for layout consistency with the future AP website.
  4. Improved the logo itself a bit.
  5. Various little things improved, added, or fixed.
  6. Obtained the W3 Consortium approval on our CSS (Cascading Styles Sheets, commanding the look of the forums): zero erros, code "perfect". :)

Just out of curiosity.. Why haven't you used the link with the CSS logo?

Code: Select all

<p>
    <a href="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/">
        <img style="border:0;width:88px;height:31px"
            src="http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/images/vcss"
            alt="Valid CSS!" />
    </a>
</p>

I don't like to rely on other sites for displaying stuff that belongs to the structure of a site if I can do otherwise. So I used the other option offered by the W3C: copy the image to our own site.

About the link itself, I just forgot to add it.... Sigh do they really need a better Google rank thanks to all the links pointing to them?! :roll: :wink:

Anyhow, I'll add it when I edit the forums code again, but I have other concerns about the forums before that.

It's a permission problem. Flash is a new function and the permissions come from the old AP forums which didn't have Flash, so, by default, Flash is disabled, except for admins. I'll set the permissions correctly in a moment. Quite long to do though, as it must be done forum by forum.

AP members should now be able to post Flash in the General Messages (all users) forum and the General Messages (AP-private) forum.

I'll work on a general rework of permissions when the new forums structure (what forum goes where, new ones, old ones merged, etc.) is up. Our new system offers much more possibilities than the old one, so the conversion of permissions was not -and couldn't be- 100% perfect; it's like 98% OK at the moment, with all important things covered anyhow. But some details have to be modified. (For the sanity of admins too, by the way.)

I've got a comment:

Can we pretty please dump alot of those stickies in the general forums?

I feel alot of them have been read by now, and aren't really necessary at the top anymore. Maybe we can dump them in an "IMPORTANT THREADS; READ THESE" subforum?

Currently we can't even see the first *real* thread (as in not sticky) when on a 1280x800 screen!
Lupusceleri L220/24 Agent.
Silversmith upcoming TL5 twink.
Wolfseye L110/12 Adventurer (towertwink).
Lysdexic L90/9 Agent (Mimic Enf towertwink).
Aesculapias L21/2 Doctor (ancient).

Aaaand various other alts.

Well, yes, it's a part of the "re-structuring and making the forums clearer" project soon.

Cavey, I authorized Flash in signatures, so you shouldn't have problems with Flash content in your signature now.

Except it's damn too long to download. If you need this in your signature, as I said, they can be put on our servers so they don't have to be downloaded over the Internet from more or less slow machines.

Several additions and modifications have been performed, and we have reached version 1.1.0 as, also, all known bugs have been fixed.

The most visible and useful addition is a real time clock showing GMT(UTC), so you don't need to log on to be able to see this reference time, and you can't make errors about the moment a raid starts at, etc.
REAL TIME GMT CLOCK
The clock shows the time in the 24 hours format (alos known as "military time" in some countries, and the regular 12 hours format with the "ante meridiem" and "post meridiem" mentions.
Image
Please note that this clock relies on the clock of your own system to calculate GMT, and not on an independent atomic clock. You can still use our link to an atomic clock and much more info on local times and times zoneshere:
http://www.athenpaladins.org/forums/vie ... f=2&t=4185

"MARK TOPICS READ FUNCTION" IS BACK
You can now again, as on our old forums, mark all the topics of a forum "read". Blame yourself if you miss something important!

Image

You can also bookmark threads or subscribe to forums or threads.
http://www.athenpaladins.org/forums/faq.php#f70

Better layout for buttons
In messages, buttons now stick to the bottom of the message section and don't float anymore if the message is short and the avatar big. Also, the function "mark forums read" now has its own button.
Before:

Now:

You can see more or less buttons depending on the situation: your post or the post of someone else, do you have moderators rights, etc.

Many other small modifications and improvements
We can't list them all. It would be things like "added a non-breaking space for better legibility in line 362 of the view topics titles template", etc.

Is it possible to put the "mark all forums as read" link back at the top? Scrolling all the way down to click it makes me all fuzzy in the cabbage.
