David Bowie

Post by Ustarlen »

Driving to the shops a few minutes ago with my 16 year old son and three of his mates and heard the news that David Bowie has just died. None of the boys (except my son because I made him listen) had ever heard of him. 'Did he have any good songs' one of the boys asked? Where do I begin....

For those who want to know a bit...

Among Rock / Pop stars, Bowie has never been the most accessible one, by far. More than often flirting with musical research.

Here are some typical songs, starting in 1969

And his last song, when he was aware he was dying.

I think music afficianados can "date" themselves by which Bowie period they grew up in - for me it was "Heroes", "Low" and the early 80s stuff like "let's dance" and "ashes to ashes" that really made me listen to him.

This is the the first single I bought, and started my interest in alternative/indie music:

RIP David
