PC Crash - need some help :)

Post by Nic »

ok so had an issue with my pc and lost most of what i had although I did have some info copied across to a separate drive.

I took the opportunity for a full new download of Windows 10.

Problem 1 is with Windows 10 and when i launch the new engine (had to download it) it wont open as it says i require directx9.0 to run but i cant find a directx9.0 for win 10? - Seemed that starting a game in Steam sorted this

Problem 2 i have an outlook file folder with old emails on it (its a .pst file) and cant seem to get it to work with the new outlook 2013 version i am running. I ran the same version on my old pc so only different is the windows 10 rather than win 7

Problem 3 I have a copy of all my favourite bokmarks on my external drive but cant seem to get them across in chrome (or edge) any suggestions?

sorry to bug anyone with this!

1: solved, cool !

2: can use a pst converter to reobtain your elements in other format (eml, ost, csv, txt, etc) ; might cost some time to reimport then but may be worth it.

3: bookmarks should be in HTML format and, from there, should be importable in any recent browser, Chrome included ; but if you saved in a closed/crypted format, may be lost for ever.

1) Type "dxdiag" in the launch/ seacrh box of the start menu. This will start the Direct X report utility. The Direct X version you have will be dispalyed somewhere on the first tab / page of the utility. Tell us what it shows. It should also report errors if any are found.

2) To import email and other data to Outlook 2013, see here

Import email, contacts, and calendar from an Outlook .pst file

and here

3) What was your browser, the one that created the bookmarks list?
