new mobo and cpu

Post by Mrfreeman »

well, apprently my computer has been on the fritz ever since the last LAN party i went to, and was recntly moved to fit a new bed into my room, but when going to reboot it wouldnt get to the POST. So after testing and trouble shotting, determined the mobo was dead (didnt have another board to test just the cpu) so i had to fork out some money to buy a new one, hence why i wasnt on last night ^^. anyhow I got the new one up and running now so should be good for a bit :) wasnt wanting to rebuild my system atm but was getting near the time for a new one. But 1 thing ... went from a P4 HT to a quad core :) so AO runs faster ^^ ill try to post specs later.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6819115055 quad core cpu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813141005 motherboard for it

still using my old system parts:
2x1gig DDR2 sticks and 2x512 DDR2 - 1066 Corsair memory
500 gig sata Segate hdd
9800 GT nvidea graphics card
500 watt Ultra PSU
and 2x CD/DVD rom (and a floppy shhhhh)

next on my list is a newer psu, the p4 on the new mobo is a 8 pin, while the psu i have is a 4 pin so need to upgrade that, still works however. and then next is my video card, to sli3 :P although i may change to the new nvidea 200 series and will be a bit longer down the road.

your 500watt PSU is more than enough to run your new system, but if you decide to go SLi then yes upgrade to 600watt + PSU

my psu doesnt have the new p4 8pin connector so unless i get a adapter(if they make one) just the norma 4pin p4.
