Heh Rojo, looks like your companies IT guy might have prevented it :P

If i recall that a socket Error like that is because of a router/firewall port not being able to allow the AORC client to connect.

Oh and also, did you download the old version or the new version of AORC+?

If you do have the updated one, i would go find your companies IT guy and go buy him a drink for a favor of opening up the port on the network ;)

Not many people know exactly what im doing, so most off the time I'm saying that I do something in IT :). I think that there should be way more woman in IT but whe are a rare bread :?

For the IT guys and gals out there

I work as a security engineer for a big company. I manage, install, implement and follow up different security related systems (proxy, firewall, web and mailscanning) for our clients, mostly banks and financial institutions.

Lolz noobas, I'm teh pharmacist. Not an IT guy. I have a basic level of knowledge of comps but nothing in terms of firewalls and proxy's and ports and crap. I meant I am the boss in my store so I dont need to bribe an IT guy cos if i wanna do it then i will lol.

Gone try elro

When you make a conenction in your case between a comuter and a server this flow uses specific ports (well in one way :-)).

So you know that there is traffic going from X (your comp) to y (aorc server) over port Z (should be port 7012)

Now one or both of your programs could block this, so you can make a allow rule in both programs.

So allow your ip to go to servers and ports :

chat1.d1.funcom.com:7012 is the Test Server
chat2.d1.funcom.com:7012 is Ribi-Ka 1
chat3.d1.funcom.com:7012 is Ribi-Ka 2 --> this one in your case
chat.dt.funcom.com:7013 is the German server

Your own ip can be found with

Start, run type in cmd, you receive a black box, type in ipconfig /all.
there is your address after IP ADDRESS.

When this fails i mostly send a technician onsite :-).

Note that what Cutie said is perfectly accurate but applies to firewalls (software or hardware) that manage ports.

Many firewalls just manage applications, allowing or forbidding them to access the Internet, and blocking unknown applications by default until they are "told" they can allow them to use the Internet.

In this case, somewhere in your firewall, you have to check if the AORC application can connect to the Internet.

Also, I'm not sure, but if you are under Vista, it is possible that AORC requires you run it with admin rights (not sure at all about that, and I don't think it should cause the message you get, but, hey, who knows...)
