Anarchy online on an Intel 4600 integrated GPU

I've created this thread because recently the company I work for bought me a nice HP laptop with a dedicated GPU as well as an integrated Intel 4600.

I was excited to try running AO on it, but noticed right off the bat there was a massive problem.

1. AO did not see the dedicated GPU
2. AO when running using the Intel 4600 integrated graphics had some serious graphic glitches. Making the game virtually unplayable.

So I did what any self respecting gamer would do - I googled the problem, read, and re-read every single bit of forum post I could find on the subject. Searched even slightly related issues.

A few suggestions came up, every single last suggestion so far does not help.

Such as : Trying another driver, Disabling the Intel GPU in BIOS (Well you can't on this laptop), Installing DirectX manually, running the game in low settings, Disabling the integrated via Windows Device Manager. ETC, ETC, ETC

NOTHING helped.

I have a friend with the exact same card and the exact same problem. And he too was unable to solve it.

If any of you guys have anything to add to the discussion, if you have managed to solve this issue, would be great to know exactly how.

Thanks

What model is your HP?

If you tried all you said, I'm afraid there is not real solution but good news is that, with the new engine, AO should work with DirectX 9 (higher versions of DirectX being backwards-compatible of course), and this should solve many issues with graphic devices. Currently AO is still based on DirectX 7... which is 14 years old and doesn't really use GPU's and this implementation was never tested to work with dual GPU's systems with real GPU + integrated graphic device.

Atleast for Nvidia cards, you can set AO to use the dedicated card in the Nvidia Control Panel.
