Sometimes, getting a bad cold has a positive effect: I could finally post all the following. :wink:

In accordance with our rules, you'll find below some modifications to our rules that are proposed after a long work.

Comments, suggestions, critics, etc. are welcome and those proposals can be amended if necessary. :)

After two weeks, those rules will become final.

Those rules are now final

Additions to the requirements for Officers
=================================================================

1)To become an officer it's mandatory you had NO problem inside the org or regarding org rules and Code of Conduct in the past 90 days at least for a UL, 4 months for UC and SC, 6 months for general and president. If necessary, the officers decide if an incident was a problem or not.

2) Also, if you were one of the causes of a major problem (org drama, tarnishing the image of the org, matters of honesty and honor) but without the problem being serious enough for you being kicked, 6 months without any problem are required for any promotion.

3) You can't become an SC or above before FIVE REALLY ACTIVE months in the org

4) Using your rank unfairly in your personal interest or against the good of the org or org rules will lead to demotion and possible org kick. Infringement of org rules can lead to the consequences. (Please not there is NO problem at all with any officer atm: this is a precaution for the future)

5) Officers do their best to be active on org forums. (We understand no everyone can contribute to forums though.)

NOTE: AP is in the process of implementing a new management structure giving more direction to the jobs of its officers. In future, when selecting officers we will be looking for the best candidate for the job vacancy we have. This does not mean the next longest qualified member, but the person showing the specific skills we think will best match the job we need done.

=================================================================
NEW RULES FOR SELLING INSIDE AP
=================================================================
We had a problem with our old no-sale rules. This is why.

In the past, when our no-sale rule was made, before SL, we only had there kinds of items:

-regular ones that could be found in missions or with some farming outside
-a few exceptional ones dropping from Uniques most of the time, many being nodrop
-a few extremely rare random drops, mostly Grid Armor nanos

We could ask a member to give a regular item to another member as it was easy to compensate.

Because rare "tradeable" items were only a few, we could also compensate those ones, and anyhow, if they had to be sold, it was no more than one or two sales a month.

But now we are facing a LOT of items that are whether rare or, even if not rare, long to get and expensive (symbiants for instance). We can't compensate all those items; that's just too many of them.

Our no-sale rules leads to a situation where:

-AP member A needs an item that is not exceptional
-AP member B is selling this item because he needs money
-A can't buy from B
-Person C, not in AP, buys the item
.... stupid.

So here are the proposed changes new rules.

SELLING AND TRADING ITEMS BETWEEN PALADINS

- Services or help between Paladins can NEVER be sold or tipped for.

- The items that can be sold/traded for others between Paladins are:
. Items with a market price of 20M* or higher, considered “expensive” items. (For those sales/trades, you have to ask for the assistance of an officer; see below)
. Items that are less expensive but are rare or hard to find; this may include some specific symbiants
. Any item a Paladin is expressly offering for sale to the public in his store, on the shopping channels, on AO market forums
All those items can of course be given for free -or loaned/borrowed- between Paladins, but the owner of the item has always the right to sell it or keep it.

- It is recommended that Paladins just give to each other the items that are not listed above, but the owner of an item has always the right to keep it.

- If the owner refuse the sale/loan, no begging or harassing

- No unfair profit must be made by the seller or the buyer in a sale or a trade between Paladins.

- Prices can’t be higher than regular market prices.

- If the seller agrees on selling to the buyer at a reduced price that is fair, if not that is ok. No begging or harassing.

- If you see a Paladin is going to buy (or trade for) an item that is not really good for him, or that a Paladin is going to sell (or trade) an item he’d better keep, you have to kindly inform him of this fact, prior to the sale/trade.

- NO offers, requests, or discussions about sales or trades between Paladins on org chat once you know who your seller is. If you don’t know, you’re allowed to ask on org chat or to post on our forums in the” General AP-private messages” forum. No spam allowed.

- In sales above 20M (this price may change if necessary), the seller and the buyer has to inform an officer and ask for his agreement IF this is technically possible (usually impossible if it's loots rights). The officer makes sure both parties are aware of the value of the item, that the price is not higher than market prices, and that the trade is fair. If the officer sees a problem, or calls off the deal for any reason, the seller or the buyer can ask Org Management for a second chance (this is not encouraged) but any answer given at this point will be final. No begging or harassing.

- In all sales or trades between Paladins, you can require the help and assistance of an officer if you feel you need that help.

- The Org will not buy items from members for members.

* The price of 20M in these rules can be modified by Org Management if necessary, depending on the changes in AO. If so, an announcement will be made online and on our forums.

(Note the following section was already in our rules but couldn't be restored when our old forums were lost)

WHEN A PALADIN HELPS ANOTHER TO MAKE BUSINESS OUTSIDE THE ORG

If a Paladin requires the help from another in the final purpose of making business outside the org (making cash, trading an item, etc.), he has to inform the other Paladin of this specific goal prior to anything.

It is highly recommended to share a part of the cash with the Paladin who helped, or to give him something, depending on the importance of the help you got.

You can require the help and assistance of an officer if you feel you need that help.

This is the only exception where services or help between Paladins can be remunerated.

NOTE: if some Paladins work together in the purpose of selling an item inside the Org to another Paladin (or of trading for another item), an officer MUST be informed of the operation and give his agreement.

PvP additions
=================================================================

Due to the increasing number of PvP incidents in some zones, the following rules are proposed

- We don’t care about the vocabulary used to describe a PvP situation; we care only about the facts. (For example, the word “ganking” has too many meanings now.)

- AP members must fight with honor as much as possible and always when circumstances allow it (duels), but you don't have to let you be killed. This doesn’t apply to towers wars due to their nature.

- Never attack clanners unless they attacked you or agree on PvPing with you

- By being PvP-flagged inside any "mayhem" PvP zone like West Athen, Borealis, or similar areas, you consider yourself ready and prepared for PvP, and accept the risk of, and agree on, being PvPed in a mayhem way, even a dirty way. Don’t go to such zones if you are not ready for that.

- If you want to duel or have structured fights with rules, go to a duel specific area or to the silo our Org provides, or to the arena, or to a quiet PvP zone (around BS wompah, or Will of fight, etc), or to a 5% dungeon (Mort, Wine,...), or start a Duel with the duel command provided by Anarchy Online (recommended).

- In structured fights, especially if you PvPing with other AP members agree with your challengers on the rules prior to the fight and make sure they read you, understood you, and replied to you.

- As there is no objective and independent way to determine whether or not someone was unfairly PvPed, we’ll maintain a record of all reported incidents involving our members and if the officers believe the conduct a member over time tarnishes our reputation, the member will first get a warning and then can possibly be kicked.

- Always keep cool: this is a game and accidents happen in PvP. You can be killed even if your opponent didn’t want to kill you.

90 days is 3 months. :-)

I definitely see the need for the changes to the item-selling rules. It's ridiculous for somebody not to be able to sell to an AP member if they were going to sell it anyway.

I certainly hope, though, that this doesn't dramatically change the highly generous nature of AP. I have greatly benefitted from our "gift economy" myself, contributed to it as much as I could in the past, and am now finding myself in the position to do so even more now. I understand why these rules need to change, but it would be really sad if everything became transactional.

Ooops typo... despite this text has been in the making for three months. Fixed now. (90 was good, the two other were not)

If we took so much time to propose a change it's because of that concern.

Friendship and generosity must prevail in AP.

The current change is only to prevent absurd situations.

If someone would have given an item before those changes, please still give it after them. :)

Added a note (not a rule) in the additions for officers post

It is 3 weeks now since the additions were posted, with no one wording any opposition. Therefore those additions are now final (they were already after two weeks) and they will be added to the relevant posts. :)
