Reviews: Steam AO "DLC" Packs 1 of 2

There are three extras available for AO on Steam, I tried out two of them so here are my thoughts on the first.

Note: You can use the "CD-Keys" to get the codes instead of installing AO through Steam.
(Edit by Chrisax: See how to do that below in the area with a border.) *

Anarchy Online: Rubi-Ka New Colonist Bundle:

There are several things here you can get in the store, a really nice advantage is these apply to all the alts on your account instead of just one character.

Luxurious Armor Set - 8 Pieces of gear with stats that scale as you level up! Item stat growth stops at Level 200.

Never change your armor again! After all showers and cleaning bills are over rated when you can just use reclaim.

This is the best out of the bunch, the armor value is OK, it scales with you until you hit 200, It includes NCU, and best of all each piece is +5% XP for a total of +45% XP!

After using it I can say if you're climbing the XP ladder using your bloody fingertips, it's well worth it. If you have however already hit 200 and can (and want to) provide armor and twinking skills I think the tougher fights you can survive with them give a better amount of XP. Then again this'll speed up power leveling, especially when combined with the xp cans.

Combat Nano Can: Premium Experience Boost x2 - Increases experience gained by 50%. Lasts 4 hours.

Great for some heckler power leveling, but with only 2 4-hour cans make these nice to have rather than the big bonus of the pack.

Nano Can: Composite Attribute Improvement - Increases the Strength, Stamina, Agility, Intelligence, Psychic and Sense of the user by 20 points. Lasts 8 hours.
Nano Can: Computer Literacy Mastery - Increases the Computer Literacy skill of the user by 35 points. Lasts 8 hours.
Nano Can: Treatment Mastery - Increases the Treatment skill of the user by 35 points. Lasts 8 hours.

OK for one shot twinking help. I've barely used any of mine in case I ever hit 220/30 and need just a few more points for something.

Smart Backpack - 21 slots to carry your bundle in!

Seriously why is this here? Except maybe to confuse the few new players in the game that different backpacks matter for storage?

What are the CD keys and how to use them if you already have AO
Shomedamoni wrote: You do have to have Steam, so install it.

"Purchase" AO (it's free), when the add games window closes it'll automatically start downloading to your library, at the bottom of the library screen click downloads, then pause the AO download.

Purchase your DLC, no fancy tricks here.

Back in your library select CD-Keys:

Which will give you this pop-up:

Copy the key and then redeem it in you FC account, if you have more than one it'll ask you which to apply it to.

Thanks for information. :)

But what in hell are the "CD-Keys" ?!

My only AO CD is from 2001 or so (not to mention I have no idea where its is, although it IS somewhere) or maybe (not sure at all) I have a Shadowlands one.

CD-Keys from Steam

Sorry Chrisax,

I knew this would come up, I was just too tired to write directions.

You do have to have Steam, so install it.

Thanks for the details and how-to. :)

This can be interesting for many APs and AO players.

I added your "how-to" to your first post. Feel free to change and edit.

I have the lux armour DLC on all 3 accounts, and im very happy With not having to think about armour when leveling. Note however that the dlc is an 1 time purchase on a steam account, so i had to make 2 more steam accounts to buy the dlc for the other FC accounts. :)

I did also buy the Level 200 Heckler juice when i startet up. This i would not recommend. I started out with a Level 200 toon With no Research, alien Levels or guardian faction. I had no Equipment suited for Level 200+, and no Money to buy any. I remember getting my ass handed to me from grey mobs in SL. The dlc is kinda pricey too, so for a starting player who wish to Level quickly i would much rather spend my Money on Graces and be an in-game billionare. :)

Thanks! You just did part 2 of my DLC Reviews. =D>

I felt the same about the Heckler Juice, although I've been able to run APFs and basic things (Rolling for nanos, do easy VP runs, working on keys and specializations, etc.) That's only because I've received a huge amount of support from AP, teaching what I can do and helping with my equipment & I also sold off a GRACE, but even with all that it's taken me a month to get where I'm at.

Getting to run raids with the group has been worth it to me. At least I think I'm helping with /assist /pet attack... :embarassed: and not attacking Unicorn anymore (so far, this week.)
