First, Closed beta is STILL running and will keep on running. Please keep on testing!

Second, no you don't need to uninstall anything. I'll make a separate post but here is what to do:

Go to your TSW account page

On the main TSW page, you'll see:
The Secret World: Download

Please click the link below to start the Download Manager
Closed Beta Download
Public Beta Weekends Download
Download the Open beta, it will ask you to save "publicbeta-setup.exe"

Save the file called "publicbeta-setup.exe" in a specific new folder on your hard disk

Launch the file, answer the few first questions about language etc.

Then it will tell you that a TSW install already exist and will ask if you want to cancel the current install.

Answer "no" (I don't want to cancel this instal = I want to continue)

:!: And then select CUSTOM install :!:

:!: :!: And then select a folder that is NOT the folder where you have the Closed beta client install :!: :!:

Do not accept the creation of a shortcut on your desktop; you will add one manually if you want (in certain conditions it might overwrite your Closed beta shortcut: it's not a real issue, you can recreate it though)

Let the patcher download the game

Launch the Open Beta client from its own directory (or create another shortcut on your desktop of course)

Oh, ok thanks Chris. Thing is that I am running on an SSD only and am a little tight on space.. I've been meaning to get an HD but... maybe I will just get another SSD.

BTW, Crash is Cabbie on Open beta. Not sure in Closed beta as he told me he had it too but not yet created anything.

That said, I don't know how much time I can put in Open Beta. I'd like to know which AP's are there so I can adapt! :) Tell me plase. :)

I'm Cabbie in closed beta also. Not much time to play this weekend because of two family birthdays + Mother's Day, but I'm sure I'll be running around Kingsmouth at some point.

Check you tells! I was there and I tried to talk to you at least 20 times! ](*,) :rotf2:

And, no, this is not normal at all. Although the Open beta is way less stable than the Closed beta. (probably because the Open one is a part pulled from a whole and tweaked).

I don't have those issues, and Bredin or Cabbie (Crash) didn't either. Can you try on another comp? Are you playing full screen or windowed?

The Open beta forums are there:
http://darkdemonscrygaia.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21
(Need to log on with your TSW username and... one of your passwords for FC games... don't ask me what one...)

Maybe someone says something? I'll have a look.

Gah Sillanto... We have an APF raid in AO in one hour so I won't be able to see you much today, or much later.

About disassembling
- y key to open the crafting interface

- in the slot "item", put the itme you want to disassemble

- if it can be disassembled (not sute what is possible in open beta), the button "assemble" will tunr into "disassemble and will light up

- press it

- in the large slot you'll get materials

- NOTE DOWN the shape / pattern they form: you'll be able to create an itme of the same kind by reproducing this pattern

Crafting Quick explanation

The interface

Open the crafting menu by pressing the "y" key
The crafting interface is 20 slots invisible grid, 4 blocks tall x 5 blocks wide.
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]
Below it, is a slot for 'optional) tools (not always needed)
And below again is the items / result slot, to get the result OR insert an item to disassemble

This is how the old one (not as many slots in the assembling grid) was:
Image

In the slots of the grid, you use various materials depending on what you are making:

Weapons
  • Metal (ALL weapons)
Talismans
  • Fire - to make making Offensive Talismans (damage / attack abilities focused)
Dust - to make Healing Talismans (healing bonus focused)
Water - to make Tanking Talismans (life / protection focused)
Glyphs (Glyphs are the "Prefix", "Suffix" and "Core" of an item)
  • Runes - to make all Glyphs
  • Runes are:
    Offensive Runes
    Denkyem - Critical Power Rating
    Wheel - Hit Rating
    Lu - Critical Rating
    Trinity - Penetration Rating

    Defensive Runes

    Wedjat - Defense Rating
    Pentagram - Magical Protection Rating
    Earth - Block Rating
    Yggdrasil - Evade Rating
    Koru - Physical Protection Rating

All materials and runes follow a 5 quality range scale.
Base >>> Imperfect >>> Normal >>> Sacred >>> Pure

You can refine lower quality ingredients into higher ones by placing 5 of them STACKED in the crafting box, and clicking assemble. So with 5 material clumps of rank "N", you mahe one material clump of rank "N+1"
For example: 5 x 'Base Water' can be assembled into 1 x 'Imperfect Water'.

The toolkit for an item tells you what quality is required for the materials
The rarity of the item (white green blue purple) , is determined by the rarity of the Assembly Kit used. Note that Blue items are awesome in TSW (a blue item rank 2 can be compared to a rank 5 normal item easily) and Green are very very nice.

Disclaimer: I assemble below some information from various steps from the early **COUGH** This is NOT final and this is not my own and final FAQ that is in the making as changes were just made again.
When crafting items your result will be basic, it will not have any stats aside from its basics.
To add addition stats to it you will need to create, or loot glyphs, and combine it with your item.
There are three types of glyphs, and items can have one of each of these.
If you try and add a glyph to an item that already has one of that type, it will replace the old one.
Glyphs are made by using Prefix, Suffix, or Core assembly kits.

Glyphs are made from runes in the same manner that other items are crafted, except for the stats of the glyph are dependent upon which runes you use.

For example: Using 2x'Wheel', and 2x'Lu' to create a Prefix will give you roughly equal of both stats.

When making glyphs, you can only use runes that match the same type, meaning you cannot mix defensive and offensive runes.

For example: You CANNOT mix 2x'Trinity', and 2x'Koru'.
