If you get Windows update hell error 80071A90

Post by Chrisax »

With a little bit of bad luck, you could run today or soon into a very annoying series of dreadful "error 80071A90" when installing updates with Windows Update on Windows 7 64 bits.

Whatever you do, you will likely not be able to fix is, even after installing MS "Fix it" extra software.

The reason is the list of updates contain some updates that just interfere with others when being installed. (So you have to be unlucky to get specifically the list that doesn't work fine.)

The solution is to install the updates one by one, by selecting only one, installing it, and then going to the second one.

Star with the bigger ones in file size. This of course means a restart almost each time.

This should make it.
