Hum...

I just check with the new engine in 1980x1024, most options high.

RAM used in a classic store; 280MB

RAM in OA: 640MB

RAM in EFP: 1 200MB (yes, 1.2GB)

RAM in SL: 1300ish MB (1.3GB)

And that's not with 40 players around.

Each client running will use the same thing as the first client.

So running 7 clients means possibly more than 9GB ONLY for AO (add all your other running software and the system itself).

Or it will spap to disk and slow down.

Regarding CPU usage I was at 4.7% per AO client on an Intel i7-2600K (yes quite old now). I will have to compare it with new CPU to see what AO will use, roughly.

The i5-7600K you posted has a Passmark (a quite reliable general purpose CPU benchmark) benchmark of 9151
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... Hz&id=2919

My own i7-2600K (years old now) i used at 4.7ish % by a new engine AO client and has a benchmark of 8457
https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cp ... GHz&id=868

So, as a rule of the thumb based on bechmarks comparison, let's say that each AO new client you run will take around 4.4% of CPU.

So for each new engine client:
4.4% of CPU i5-7600K
up to 1.3GB of RAM

OK, so do the following (I can't do it; I don't have an old client installed ATM):
  • Run AO old client

Click CTRL ALT DEL and you'll get the Windows Task Manager

In the TAB "Processes", you'll see programs running and AO will have an AO icon and a name like "Client 32 bits".

Check what memory is allocated to each client

Check how much CPU % is allocated to each client

Do that in a small and large zone
And tell us the results.

But, to be able to provide some advice, what is the rest if your equipment now? This thread is 3 years old for a good part. And the budget?

Damn, you don't have many online shops in Norway and no Amazon. :( Or are you in Spain already?

I don't know where to look in Norway. Have you considered ordering directly in Spain (they have Amazon) and being delivered there?

Anyhow I'm looking for items now for you. I have ideas about cases already.

For a quite inexpensive but well made case you could look at a Bitfenix Neos or Nova: they are about the same prices in general, and the main differences are the mesh front panel for the Neos, allowing a somewhat better cooling if you want to add one or two fans on the front (and more color options for the front panel). Both cases welcome 3 fans, the rear one is supplied, the two frontal ones have to be purchased.

I see them between like 37 and 40 euros on Amazon, and from most web shops.

Bitfenix Nova

which comes in black or white (and with a side window panel model too, more expensive)

Bitfenix Neos

A bit more sophisticated, and around 49 euros (more expensive from Amazon Spain, it seems), the Antec P7 Silent

Also, Cooler Master has a new series Q300 but I'm unsure of the prices yet and I think it will be more like 60-65 euros

There are several other cases possible.

Can you point me to the web shops you could buy from?

Looking for other items now.

Fan:
You don't need much really. One additional fan on the front should be enough.

You could got for an inexpensive Arctic Cooling Arctic F12, simple, very good airflow, decently quiet for the price and the airflow (really quiet fans are much more expensive, and sadly the noise depends a lot on the way the air travels from the front panel.).

OR if you want the fan to be piloted by your motherboard, and possibly software, then, Arctic Cooling Arctic F12 PWM Rev.2
Amazon Spain:
https://www.amazon.es/Arctic-Fan-F12-TC ... Arctic+F12
https://www.amazon.es/ARCTIC-F12-PWM-po ... +PWM+Rev.2

Cooling paste:
Did your CPU cooler got removed or lifted from its base?
Anyhow, if you have to reinstall it... tricky job. You need to very kindly remove the previous paste or adhesive without scratching the CPU. That's some test of patience sometimes.

You need to know that thermic paste for PCs, sold in computer shops in small tubes, is a product with a huge profit margin compared to the industrial price in somewhat larger quantities and some brands just push their prices through the roof of decency. So let's pick something decent...

Cooler Master MasterGel Pro
Amazon Spain:
https://www.amazon.es/Cooler-Master-Mas ... terGel+Pro

You can also buy replacement adhesive pads, usually without a brand. No clue how good they are though.

In my opinion, you don't need extra cooling for your GPU if your case got a decent airflow properly. Your Asus cooling system works well (and you can likely use the software delivered with the card to tweak GPU cooling IF you really need it).

You can use CPUID HWmonitor free version, very reliable software, to check your CPU and GPU temperature
https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html
(Pay attention to refusing any additional software during installation, it MAY happen that you're offered extra unwanted stuff.)

Screws... Not sure what screws you need. Search for "tornillos de la computadora" (without quotes) on Amazon Spain

Always ask Lil' Chrisax; he is still a bit useful. :)

Note that you can save a few euros if you take a Nova without window. (Depends on the vendor though.)
