16.4 Preliminary Update Notes

The 16.4 Update will be slightly different to the usual content updates. With 16.4 we have undertaken a major revamping of how the game renders textures, graphics and animations.

Whilst these update notes are short, there is a lot involved in these changes and it affects pretty much everything that happens in game., we wanted to separate these changes from the additional content we had scheduled for this update so that we can ensure that we can test these changes in isolation.

Therefore the 16.4 Update will come in stages over the next couple of months. This will be split into the following broad categories.

16.4.0 – Game Engine Changes

- Optimized resource loading.

- Improved animation system

- Client should suffer from less stuttering as you move

- Client should suffer from less jerky animations and blend animations better.

Scheol Quest Update

Once 16.4 is released to the live dimensions and stable we will then release the planned content additions for 16.4. This update sees Scheol getting the same kind of quest upgrades that have been seen in Nascense, Elysium and Inferno. These will come in a 16.4.x update.

Character Transfer

During the course of the 16.4 update series we are also going to be testing a new character transfer system. This is being tested this is being tested in order to evaluate the potential of offering this as a.paid service that will allow players to transfer between dimensions for a fee.

What it also means though is that we will have the technology to copy characters from live to test live for testing purposes. This should allow more people to aid in the testing process on the test live dimension if they would like to.

We will announce more details as soon as this is available.

hmmm i hope the engien upgrades help more than they hinder :/

i DO like having the chance to switch dimensions for a fee. FC is FINALLY doing this when almost all other MMOs have this feature. hopefully they keep it on par with thier current pricing scheme for paying customers, such that it is cheaper than the other MMOs. would be nice. probably wont happen tho.

atm the engine is F*CKED!!! omg... I LD every 10 min... and all animation bugs we fixed since version 13 are back...

The char transfer is f*cked 2 :P I tried an easy transfer and all my skills went 65535 :/ (on test) the char got deleted cuz I LDed after pressing forward :P

I know I don't want to go to RK1.

The idea of being able to copy a toon to Test is quite appealing.

ESPECIALLY if they'll let Hyde copy to Test but give him full IPR so I can play with some things before I have to make up my mind.

Not expecting that though.

I believe the bug hunters can hand out IPR on test. and you can probably get them through the bugsy sytem.

So indeed a great way to test weapon ideas :)

Possible :) If they copy your toon to Testlive, then you WILL be able to get over 200 IPR just by asking the right BH (even no need to spend Bugsy points on it) :twisted: My 88 MA there has like... 180ish IPR left 8) Also, if you want to do fast perk resets, you can buy a FULL PERK RESET for 10 Bugsy points :twisted: Then all perks will be resetted in a matter of a few minutes :) For 10 Bugsy points, you need to report about six or seven bugs to Bugsy (http://arf.ark.funcom.com/bugsy/?p=main).

And w00t @ the engine upgrade - IF it doesn't crash anymore :roll:

EDIT: And finally, FINALLY, I will be able to kill that RK1 brat of an Advy with Aesculapias :twisted: If he stayed at L25 that is :)

Wow. they;ve been playing it too much. Character transfers worked there because there were 100+ servers and it was needed. 2 servers. and a fee for it. RETARDED.

ok, 2 small probs... grid has no floor atm and when you hide you LD :P very funny to see a zone crash when you hide
