Brain teaser of they day... help me with an implant

Here is the puzzle of the day. I made my own calculations but I don't want to influence you and I'd like to know your opinions first.

I want to build IDEALLY a ql300 Right Arm implant giving

• Bow (Shiny slot)
• % ALL DEF (Bright slot)
• The last (faded) slot is less important; it can be various things.

The main problem lies in the core component of the implant, the very rare

Finding such a cluster is totally random, pure luck. And there is none for sell on the markets.

It can only be achieved by blitzing missions and opening chests, boxes, etc. Something an MP can hardly do alone because you can't open a chest while in a fight and MPs don't have Calms to stop the mobs from aggroing, or roots to paralyze the mobs so you can lose aggro after a while with a bit of luck. We don't have enough concealment to sneak in the middle of 250ish mobs either I assume (never tried to raise concealment that high even with buffs and cloaking device).

But I could still try and blitz a bit, where I can.

The worst part is the QL required for the cluster because I can roll level 250 missions but ONLY a fixer can roll level 250 missions with QL 275 loot thanks to the loot bonus of fixers... and I don't have a fixer except a ... level 1.


So the problem is: what could be the lower QL of the implant that could make the QL 300 implant I want in the end, and therefore what could be the lowest QL required for the AllDef cluster. Could it be 250 or below?




(Now my own calculations say that the implant could be QL 295 and thus the cluster could be QL 248 minimum. I'm not 100% sure about it though. I assume that QL 250 would work anyhow.)

Important parts...

* 3 clusters: Full implant (min empty = 286, max empty = 291)
... 250 Shiny to empty 286-291 implant = 288-293 shiny implant
... 250 Bright to Shiny 288-293 implant = 293-298 shiny/bright implant
... 250 Faded to Shiny/Bright 293-298 implant = 298-300 filled implant

So basically you'll need a QL288-291 implant if you want the end result to be QL300.. Add in Shiny first (2 QL bump), Bright then (5 QL bump), Faded then (5 QL bump). All these clusters can be QL250 if you do it right Using a QL287 will work too, QL299 implant will be the end result, and it will give you the same stats as his QL300 brother just lower reqs

Besides, if you want to, we can hunt down a fixer together and I'll mezz some missions together with you in Mimic Crat 8)

You have at least as good a chance finding that cluster from Primus mobs as you do from mission chests. I'd say perhaps -better- chance since the loot tables on those mobs is much more restricted so you don't get other random junk. And in the meantime you may find others that are valuable.

I've never looked for it, but there is another Primus camp besides Mercs, that is supposed to be better for camping due to layout and lower traffic. And if you're able to solo them, which I think you are, then you don't need to drag anyone along and you can do it on demand whenever you want.

I -strongly- suggest you build the arm w/out the Jobe cluster for now, and put the cluster in later when needed. Otherwise you may spend months and months waiting. I never even got the Jobe dmg clusters I was looking for and finally just gave up.

On Jobe cluster find places..

- You can try RBK missions and loot in chests if a good way but you need a mezzer.
- Killing Primus mobs at Merc Camp in EFP. They drop often empty refined implant and refined clusters ql 150-300 so good luck camping.
- Killing Primus in an hidden place in Milky Way (doubt many people know that location) Its behind a water fall in the North East of the map there is many primus (more than Merc Camp) its inside the cavern all the way up to the crater with lava upside... So far i have never seen anyone there but since i got my stuff now i can share info

I know the secret place near the waterfall, it's a maze of caves and since the beginning of AO I've been wondering if something is supposed to happen there or not.

Long ago I took AP here, short after SL, and we did well until a Notum Profundis and his adds owned us.

Today I can solo without problem there. I'll have a look.

The reason I'm looking for the cluster is I have such an alldef R-arm implant ATM but with shotgun, so removing it will lower my alldef rating by something like 81 (not sure exactly now) and I hate the idea hehe.

Also if I make the ql 300 implant, this means I will have less choice for the QL of the alldef cluster... but oh well... I'm afraid I have to move on...

I've been able to find an All DEF refined Jobe bright cluster ql 230 for 25M on GSM and I bought it.

Of course, it can't work with a ql 300 implant but it SHOULD be able to be combined with a QL 270 implant as it is within 15% of 270.
270-[15%(270)]=229.5

So I need a 270 refined blank right arm now... gah

Then, I'll need to bump it to the max, so I need the highest possible Bow shiny cluster I can find or more accurately a fixer can find, as it is rollable.

Same problem, I need the highest possible one.

Finally I'll need a tradeskiller with the highest possible NP skill (I can buff him +92) as I never maxed my own NP which is nevertheless above 2000. Still I could possibly max my NP as, anyhow, I have later to perform a full reset to equip the Tigress crossbow.

The final result, with a bit of luck could be a QL 280 implant (270 + 2 bumps of 5 levels, one per cluster, not counting the possible bump from the Jobe AllDef cluster itself.)

In this case I would be pretty close to the stats of a QL 300 implant:

(And if it reached QL 285, it would be almost pointless to try getting a QL 300: Modify Bow 136, Defense modifier 101. In that case, just wait and see if something drops.)

I have an empty QL249 r.arm you're welcome to, but you could blitz a 250 so I doubt its much help.

Got a QL 275 Bow shiny cluster; I should say THE QL 275 Bow cluster because it was the ONLY one available on both GMS and AO forums.
Cost 10M, quite normal.

I have the Alldef cluster bright QL 230

So now I need a QL 270 (max) R arm implant and there is none (and nothing near either...

And I need to get the third cluster as high as possible too.

Reminds me of cluster hunting when I was 200-, but worse...
