Now what is that? :)
I'll send you a PM right now. Please tell me if you receive it correctly.
Same story as with Hyde's PM so I've got no clue what you had to tell me :D

Edit: Alpha, I need to know the following:

How many messages do you have in the different folders of your PM section (sent, inbox, etc) please? And especially have you reached the limit of your inbox?

Working on it ATM. It's something that shouldn't happen as it was fixed during the development of the modification, on JUly 11 2008, but I'm afraid this is maybe a side effect of the use of prosilver or subsilver2 styles by someone at some time that messed up the database to some degree, because the variable (or sort of) you mention is concerned by the modification used by both Athen Paladins styles.

Edit: no it doesn't seem it's an issue with the database itself but I'd rather be careful, so still doing what is described in the next paragraph.

Deactivating subsilver2 and prosilver ATM just to be sure I eliminate a possible cause. I'll see if I can modify subsilver2 and then prosilver to make them fully compatible with the modifications. This will take two hours or more. Not saying it's necessarily that but I want to work in a clean environmenet. :)

Notes:

Is there anyone else having troubles with PMs?

Have you used subsilver or prosilver at any time, Alpha?

Alpha, also, have you changed anything to the default rules and settings in

Personal Messages > Rules, folders & settings

in your control panel?

I made some changes based on developers' notes of July 11.

Alpha can you please check if the message you get now, instead of "NO_AUTH_READ_HOLD_MESSAGE", is:

Code: Select all

This private message currently on hold because your inbox is full. Before you can read this private message, you must first delete some private messages from your inbox (or move them to the Saved messages box) and then click the 'Release all on-hold messages' link that appears in your inbox.
And, anyhow, EVEN if you get this message, was your inbox full? (Because if it was not full, I'm back to the possible mess issue.)

OK, still this pointed me to a rare but possible situation where a bug could occur. Fixed. :)

Side note: I'm editing the Subsilver2 style so it can support the modifications and improvement introduced with the Athen Paladins styles. So far it's going well. If everything is fine, users will have a white background standard style available if they are allergic to dark backgrounds. Note that some advantages will be lost in conversion though.

I'll see for Prosilver later maybe but it's more complicated to port the modifications to that style.

Everytime i try & add an attachment to my posts my browser freezes, land up having to close it & re-open it with restarting the session. I'm running Firefox, I have tried Jpeg's, Bmp, doc's, psd .... um like everything.

Just wondering if there is somewhere that i can check what formats are compatible.

I'm going to look into that, Grind. All standard image formats work, so the problem you encounter is not there or not directly. I'll see.

Graind can you tell me at what step your browsers freezes?

To add an attachment, you have to:

Click the browse button and select a file (or type its name and path directly if you know it)

Then click on the add the file button

At that time, a small popup windows will appear saying that the file is being uploaded. (It can be closed before the end of the upload BTW, shouldn't matter it's just a message)

Once the upload is completed, the forums windows refresh and you see the name of the file in a list below the "add file" section, and also (for some types of data) under the edit window, with a button close to it "add inline".

At what step do you freeze? Have you experienced issues with popups on our forums already (for example you get popups when you have new PMs arrived).

I haven't had issues before, none with PM's.

When i click browse : find file in directory, pop-up opens i select add, then pop-up window goes white & browser freezes.

I think i need re-install on work PC.

What you call the popup window (the one that goes white) is the regular Windows XP/vista select file box?

If so, it sounds like a problem on your system. Hard to say what one ATM.

Could you try with Internet explorer?

Remember you upload the file to the server when you attach it, if the file is big, the window will "freeze" until the file is uploaded.
