Thanks Rulz,
was thinking more along the line of automatic sync whenever you put in the specific usb stick.

Mop I dont know of any software that is sold or downloaded for the job, I do know of some external drives that have it embedded & can set then to backup or trasfer data either scheduling it or everytime you plug it in. If that is on the line for what you are looking for perhaps the functionality is downloadable from the HDD manufacturers.
Am I on the right track?

I used Maxtor, Seagate also makes them. Can't look for reviews atm.
I might even have a CD at home I can check.

acronis trueimage can do pretty much anything that can be done with backups to whatever media internal or external.
however due to the nature of flash memory its not good as a backup device (intensive writes and re-writes bring them down on speed and durability)

Isnt Acronis just hellish expensive, I remember sourcing that & it was 3 000 per license or something stupid. Oh thats Rands btw, but still like 1k $$$ or something.
P.S Hi Core, good see-ing joo

I was precisely having a look at Acronis myself, as it gets really good reports from many IT people.
I found that the "Home" version is not too expensive: 49.99 USD is affordable as it's not the kind of software you have to change each year. (Enterprise versions are very expensive though.)

There is a free trial too. (Not tested yet.)
The list of features looks enough for most home and office applications.

There is also a free version of acronis, that works only with seagate drives. It's called seagate discwizard, doesn't support incremental back up though.
