Kings Code quest

Post by Elrojo »

this has to be the worst Q in the whole lot. Stupidly you cannot undo a quest update, so on step 2 when you need to find the location and you click on the relevant options f you click on one that leads to a dead end, stupidly a different one will take you there also. And so even though you know it is wrong, you have to go....

Also with step 3 working out the pass code, in what world is the correct combination any reference to the numbers in the clue.

What a stupid, time wasting quest

In reference to the passcode, if I remember right:
The hint refers time and kings, the time is 10:10, Kings 10:10 is a bible passage that tells you the code.
I don't remember what the 2nd part was, so *shrug*. :p

The Bible, in the Book of Kings 10 - 10, says that

"And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones."

The code is 120

Part 2 is the paintings.

Anyhow that's very poorly hinted than as even people who were online and knew the answer didn't know why. Everyone is assuming its a reference to time.

I fell afoul of this quest as well, was doing well for the first step. But once I got the clue I could find no way to line it up with the map view of kingsmouth (I still dont know how the clue and answer line up after cheating!)

After getting to the paintings I found out the hard way about the wrong answers as all the paintings were next to unviewable for me. So I clicked teh first I found, after a few wrong selections and several visits to the
Gas Station
I finally found the right one, and am now as stuck again! :)

Ive logged out to save my sanity as im not cheating again.

Some of the quests have been really good, I liked the escort the blond woman one. The puzzles where very final fantasy esq which I really like however some of the ones seem to be about you either A) Having amazing cryptic solving skills B) Brute Force / unlimited time to try every possibility

I think my problem is alot of the puzzles seem to be association / illogical jump types whereas my puzzle solving abilities are more logical based, so give me anything upto a low grade RSA cyper and im going to do alot better than a single Times crytic crossword answer (For those non uk members the Times is a national uk newspaper with a very highly reputed crossword)

Rant over :)
You want it made ..... See me
You want it broken ... See me
You want it fixed....... Send your hampster to FC

The Town Hall lights being too dark and pictures barely visible is a known issue and will be fixed. It's not intended.

Please post this feedback on TSW forums. Clear, well explained, detailed. Devs do read it.

I agree -and I already said- that some enigmas look like the ones in old adventures games, which were perfectly illogical and twisted. Say it.

Now, when you are stuck somewhere, please tell me: The mission and the Tier, and remind me what you have to find or what the enigma is. It makes my search in my documents much easier, especially several things were changed over time.

Codes to enter the basement and for the computer
120 for entrance

1010 for computer

More information on the quest and solutions, and the picture you're looking for
Examine the manhole sewer cover outside the Church
There is an Illuminati triangle on it and on every plate them.
Follow the direction the triangle is pointing to to get to the next cover. (The eye inside the triangle is parallel to the base of the triangle, so you can understand where the "top" of the triangle points to.)
The last cover is on the pier, behind the small building, hidden by boxes. (You can avoid some mobs by walking on the thin ledge on the left of the house when you face it.)

Click on it you'll see a picture with
"In the Seat of Power, the Navigator
immortalized
Illuminating the path
To the sleeping priest and fletcher
In the memory of the Frans Hals, who perished
in the light (1580-1666)"

and the following images in an Illuminati triangle
Ink bottle and feather
Earth lobe
Spyglass
A lighthouse in the middle (symbol of Kingsmouth I assume, not a clue? Never got an explanation.)

The seat of Power is the Town Hall
Frans Hals is a famous painter (Google for info), mostly known for portraits

In the Town Hall there are pictures on the walls. (How could a small city buy millions dollars pictures is beyond me... reproductions I assume.)

This is the picture: you have on the table the 3 objects you found in the previous clue and it's the only portrait by the way
Image

If you click another picture, you may get "Pam the Clam" clue. It's a fake clue, misleading you.

About the text of the clue:

The mention to a sleeping priest is about the place the priest sleeps at: his house.

It's near the church and on the map.

Note that on the map (m key), brownish buildings can't be entered while grey build can be (at some point) entered. This helps.

The mention of the hands of time: "hands" is the English for for the pointers showing time on a clock)

The mentions of the Kings and the word of God: The Bible, Books of the Kings

The clock shows 10:10

The Bible, in the Book of Kings 10 - 10, says that

"And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones."

The code is 120 to open the basement.

There is an issue there as some Bibles translate the old 120 talent units into 9000 pounds or other units!

For the computer, the code was 1010 and it seems it's now "omnia vincit lux" close to the Illuminati motto written on the sewer manhole covers.

the code once you get into the basement is not what you said in your spoiler, but rather a common "motto" that you see alot in the game.

The trick is that you expect most passwords to be just 1 word. This is 3. But it was pretty straight forward.
omnia vincit lux
edit: My other objection was that for all places previous to the basement bit, and for other "go to the place in the clues" (aka visions), you just went there. This however wants you to then find the key pad. I can tell you that mixed me up as its tiny and not in a great spot.

I would prefer you go to the zone you needed to be in and then it gives you an update that says "find a way in" rather than not even knowing if you are in the right spot

Hmmm yep if 1010 doesn't work anymore (tried it?) then it's the Illuminati motto written on the sewer manhole covers or so. Editing post.

Hope the rest helped. :)
