Re: WTB new game rig PST
One more thing to add mop if you stay xp indeed 2gigs are enough if you go win7 (which is what you should do on a new pc) you ll need 4gigs and for win7 64bit double that (8 gigs) other than that the i5 is indeed the budget conscientious choice atm on mid level rigs if you want intel and chris has p...

Re: WTB new game rig PST
Just one observation or two if you go for i7 don't buy a cheap psu no matter if you plan to use sli or not, if you plan on going sli buy an 850w or higher psu like the corsair ones with a single rail that can provide 50amps or more. Nvidia is about to introduce the new 300 series of cards if you hav...

Re: Windows 7
There is no comparison whatsoever in the "out of the box" experience between vista and win7. Win7 is what vista should have been when they came out ofc most of you guys stayed with xp and missed all the growing pains until sp2 was out, it took them all this time to really fix vista which i...

Re: Mom's Computer and AO
ao works on vista and win7 with uac on and comodo (if you are using windows firewall just download comodo instead), copying an already patched working installation as described in doc's 3rd suggestion is probably your best bet.

Re: Anyone know of some software that makes automated backup of
There is also a free version of acronis, that works only with seagate drives. It's called seagate discwizard, doesn't support incremental back up though.

Re: Anyone know of some software that makes automated backup of
acronis trueimage can do pretty much anything that can be done with backups to whatever media internal or external.
however due to the nature of flash memory its not good as a backup device (intensive writes and re-writes bring them down on speed and durability)

Re: Haha, Windows.
hehe dont want to make you fiddle with things that will risk the integrity of your data at least not for a pseudo raid situation that offers only convenience and no other real merit. on the other hand if you had a real raid controller it would be another story entirely. however in vista and win7 you...

Re: If you upgraded to Firefox 3.5 and its is very slow to start
Many people upgrading firefox from 3.0.x to 3.5 had such problems at some point moz folks even admitted that the profile used with the former version of the browser could become garbled during the upgrade. The real problem tho was Jit and the vulnerability which is fixed with 3.5.1 so if you haven't...

Re: Seagate hard drives disaster - read if you have a recent one
Had one of the affected drives as well, thanks a lot for helping me catch a potential disaster chris
The drive was performing well thus far but had some power management issues but never enough of a nuisance
to make me look for a solution.
cheers
