Many of the quests/missions in TSW saves the hint images in the quest log, but not all.
One good example of this is the first hint in Kingsmouth Code quest.
As a precaution to this, it's a very good idea to screenshot every hint image you come across, so when it's not saved, you can look it up in your screenshot folder.

F11 key is your friend, indeed. 
And keep the screenshots because we'll need them for our guides !
