Hello Paladins,
While most of you have done endgame so many times, you most likely eat your snacks and watch youtube while doing the raids, for me - and after poking on discord realizing I am not alone here - the first foray into raids felt daunting, to say the least.
The aim with my little guide here is to provide a simple, digestible, non-convoluted means to understand what a raid throws at you, and how to react to it optimally.
REMEMBER: BEING NERVOUS OF FAILING THE FIRST TIME(S) IS NORMAL. Pressure can do things to our cognitive abilities, and finding your footing in new, exciting and nervous-making activities is NOT alien.
Lets begin with Ground Chief Vortexx, located in the LoX hub.
----------------------------------
PREPARATION:
----------------------------------
In order to prepare yourself, you will need a couple items from Neretva Canyons, where you quest to get your last (or first) Beta.
These are:
Blood Red Notum Crystal - (Drops from Dust Brigade Operators) / Area A
Pulsating Green Notum Crystal - (Drops from Dust Brigade Engineers) / Area A
Cobalt Blue Notum Crystal - (Drops from Dust Brigade Superior Commandos) / Area A
Golden Notum Crystal - (Drops from Dust Brigade Technicians) / Area D
Once you have these (I recommend having 2 of each to be safe), form your team of usual do-gooders, and prepare to buff up and head in.
TIP 1: Imprint this rhyme in your head: R G Go B (are, gee, go, bee: red green gold blue), this is the always identical order in which you will need to use them.
TIP 2: I advise you put the crystals on a hotbar, to make clicking them easier, when it becomes necessary.
TIP 3: MAKE SURE you have a window that displays vicinity chat, because the boss makes announcements you will need to mind.
TIP 4: At all times, stand in the CENTER of the room, on the Blue light emitting platform. It buffs you, and standing elsewhere drains your nanopool quickly.
-----------------------------------
MECHANICS:
-----------------------------------
PART 1:
Spirits will spawn on altars in the raid room. THEY ALWAYS SPAWN CLOCKWISE, and in the R G Go B order (the magical rhyme).
Keep looking at the first spirit, and ONLY once it LEVITATES, you press the red crystal.
For the second spirit, you do exactly the same, but press the green crystal.
Third: Gold crystal.
Fourth: Blue crystal.
The timing becomes so much easier when you understand they spawn clockwise and need a moment to levitate, and knowing that R G Go B is the order of Crystal use.
Fixate your camera on the spirit in question, and you are unlikely to fail.
Execute this ONCE perfectly, and you will forever be immune, even in future runs.
Upon correct execution of Crystal use, a vicinity message will confirm you did so (Understanding comes in a flash)
PART 2:
When the spirit phase is over and the boss has lost a quarter of its health, one new mechanic comes into play - Fears.
This is where vicinity chat becomes important, as does your MINIMAP.
He will yell one of these messages:
Flee you pathetic insects!
Fear my power!
I will have your head!
Breathe in the terror!
WHEN THAT HAPPENS, check your minimap, a small blue dot (or dots) will appear. You can also see on that corresponding location that one of the Spirit-spawning altars gets a blue swirly effect on it.
RUN OVER THAT and if you did so timely (You have a couple seconds) you block the fear, and when done right, your character will have a red hue around it briefly, and promptly run back to the middle.
That's it!
Yes, he will spawn some adds, but in my runs with Overlord Scythe, we just burned the boss down.
---------------------
SUMMARY:
---------------------
Enable vicinity chat.
Get the crystals on a hotbar in "R G Go B" order.
Wait till spirits levitate and remember they spawn clock wise and use the crystals in R G Go B order (one per spirit).
Mind vicinity chat for the boss messages and eat the blue altar buffs to block fear.
Burn the boss down.
--------------------
Congratulations - Vortexx is dead, you all get the phatz.
NOTE: when you exit the instance, speak to the Spirit outside, and if you did all crystals correctly, that conversation will grant you eternal immunity on that character to the spirit phase of this boss, making it so that you only need to mind the fears in future runs.
Good luck aspirant raider!

Great great work, Stockframe. Before we have something (new) even better for guides, I'm making this "sticky" so it doesn't disapear within all other posts.
I'"ll add one thing: when a spirit start to levitate, the light halo under him is of the same color as the crystal you need to use. It's not always obvious though; you need to get used to this.

Thank chris!
I have a few more in the planning. Next up: Mitaar Hero and Ground Chief Aune

Great guide stock, I know the tip about binding them to the hotbar is going to stop me fumbling around in my bags and end up missing the red crystal immunity! I will have to let you know how it goes when I next step into the arena with him.
Thanks for your continued contribution to AP and the effort youre willing to go to for AO, I certainly appreciate it and I know it doesn't go unnoticed.
