17.10: HUGE CHANGE in AXP! Especially LE missions.

There is a new axp formula being tested on test-live at the moment. The goal of the changes is to properly reward fighting mobs equal or above your level and properly ensuring the most efficient way to level isn't gray mobs. The overall goal is actually to increase the amount of axp earned over time, so the axp from mobs equal to or above you has increased significantly so that those who do take on the mobs higher than them get rewarded appropriately.

It is important to stress that the primary goal is to make sure the axp leveling 'curve' is actually improved, and at the same time made more logical and placing us in a better position moving forward.

We definitely do not wish to make leveling through the alien levels harder than it is today, and that has been the core thing we have kept in mind while making this change.

It is still being tested, and if necessary we would also consider amending the curve itself if that's required.

To make it clear and simple: grey aliens will give no axp or very low axp while defeating red aliens will provide high axp.

This is a consistent and good change but it also puts an end to the "grey missions" where a low character rolled the mission for higher ones.

This means that missions will be real missions and not just a farming run. The time for a real challenge is back.

Nevertheless, if you want to farm axp the "old" way with grey missions... DO IT NOW (or never)!

Note that the calculations and tests in the making tend to create a slightly easy axp curve than now in fact, thanks to a huge axp boots on high aliens. But wait and see.



On a side note, this change has been suggested, for a part, by Doctorhyde, long ago on AO forums. :)

Yes agreed, farming AI30 is not an easy feat. After this is done i wouldn't be surprised if they come out with alien research levels.

This is a great idea :) Its not going to get past the problem of there being certain levels where toons killing potential spikes in comparison to their real level but its a damn good start.

I have mixed feelings on this. Overall, I'm in agreement, but then they need to do something about the Cyathus mobs in LE mishes, cuz very few people can even take on a Cyathus their own level.

I have a question , does the new patch brings new nanos or not . I heard something like that in a sec42 raid and i am curious.

Given that LE missions were never meant to be soloed I doubt that is a big consideration.

Heard something about the LE mobs being toned down abit, but I have left to have it confirmed.
I've just re-duped my test installation, so I'll see if I can get some testing and confirmation done the next few days.
