Micro-computers were about independence and freedom. You could do what you wanted, not depending on anyone, or on anyone's rules or opinions or possible censorship, with the software and hardware you wanted. Enough said... We are working to lose what two generations built.

Yes, of course, in some cases, using a cloud or remote computing is nice and useful, and even sometimes the only way to do (distributed extremely complex calculations,...). But just in some cases.
