KS is impolite - i cant get used to it

Post by Mophro »

[Deathsm8]: hmmm?
To [Deathsm8]: Is it policy to KS in your org?
[Deathsm8]: depends on the circumstances
[Deathsm8]: was it camping a dyna or aws it for xp?
To [Deathsm8]: It was a dyna
To [Deathsm8]: no xp involved
[Deathsm8]: then theres no such thing as KS'ing since neither person owns the mob its just impolite to kill something someone else is camping
To [Deathsm8]: Well yes impolite
To [Deathsm8]: Thats what im talking about
To [Deathsm8]: KS ing is impolite
To [Deathsm8]: very imo
[Deathsm8]: can i ask who it was?
To [Deathsm8]: Minigromit2 and minitwig2
To [Deathsm8]: I always try to help out people when i arrive at a dyna
[Deathsm8]: ill have a word but i myself have been ks'ed and will ks if the loot is worth it
To [Deathsm8]: heal then, ask them if they would like me to add some damage n stuff
To [Deathsm8]: rk dynas drop crap 8 out of 10
[Deathsm8]: ahhh was on rk
To [Deathsm8]: Does that change matters?
To [Deathsm8]: I always try to positively approach everything in this game
[Deathsm8]: yeah if it was for an item that drops say for instance mesh then fair enough but a dyna that doesnt drop much is a bit silly
To [Deathsm8]: To say the least
To [Deathsm8]: To me this is not about loot, it is about a person /persons trying to piss off an other person for no reason
To [Deathsm8]: ah well, my 2 cents
To [Deathsm8]: at least i got it off my chest, nothing i can do about it
[Deathsm8]: ive had a word but not much i can do about it either
To [Deathsm8]: hope not all in your org are like that

I remember in the early days when kill stealing was absolutely prohibited by FC. If someone did it to you and you petitioned it, the abuser risked getting a warning on his account. Nowadays it seems to be a completely different story.

Many new games have changed policy regarding this, which is as follows: If you or your team cannot outdamage another person (or his/hers team), you do not deserve the xp or loot from the mob. This policy was probably implemented to get rid of all the petitions about kill stealing in the first place since it takes a huge amount of CSR (Customer Service Relations) resources to deal with the issue. So did FC change their policy on this? Because it happens all the time.

Camping an unique mob and then someone 'KS' it from you, also might apply to this. Because camping is lame in many ways, since people tend to camp unique mobs for making a phat profit whereas some people might actually need the loot from said mob to advance their character. I tend to go with the 'outdamage' policy on this one, however if it's just normal xp I do try not to interfere with other people's current fighting target.

I'm curious where we (Athen Paladins) stand on this issue officialy.

From what I recall (I cannot find the links at the moment) ...

There is no such thing as "kill stealing" when a "public" mob is involved. Everyone has the right to try and kill it and the person or team with the most damage wins.

However, since the trinity gang started abusing this with Alien Generals, the policy has been modified. Now, if there is reasonable effort required to spawn the specific mob (ie. Alien Generals and Pocket Bosses) then the people spawning the mob have the "right" to kill it and any external person or team that ODs them is deamed to be "Kill Stealing". All stolen loot will be deleted, a warning placed on the account and it may be banned if the situation recurs. However, the agrieved spawners still get nothing.

It is not a huge improvement, but it is a very significant one.

To much of it goes on in game and FC needs to think
about how to fix it.

Its a more serious problem when you look at it with
maybe a growing player base.

Watch the economy inflate even more.

Personally i think it boils down to respect.

KS omni anytime u can lol seeing as if u there & u can ks omni u denying them phatts/creds/xp/sk whatever it is that they want DENY them.

Of couse i also think that AO is all about playing a game & not taking everything so seriously & if a toons asks u not to ks then its totally up to you, saying that i dont ks clan ever unless the toon is an idiot, scammer or rude then i might just teach them a lesson.

P.S i dislike most omners attitudes

The overall problem is the fact that the uniques are overcamped.
Makes it impossible for a casual player to get any decent loot.
It wont change in a hurry and I think in the long run it will drive
more players away than retain them.

Instances would fix this and maybe the economy.
Now granted the economy in other MMOs is not any better but
in the long run instancing pays off.

FC needs to wake up a bit.

Yes they have released LE but its merely a short term placebo.
