Bumping Implants up QL's The How To Guide

Post by Grind42 »

Hi guys this is an invaluable guide for Implant assembly when wanting to work out QL's

QL1-49 : Will not bump (not even if you have 5000 NP)
QL50-99 : 1 QL bump per cluster if you have enough NP
QL100-149: 2 QLs per cluster
QL150-199: 3 QLs per cluster (well, obviously you can't bump a ql199 more than one QL..)
QL201-249: 4 QLs per cluster
QL250-299: 5 QLs per cluster

(Basically it's the QL of the implant, divided by 50 and rounded down..)

Shiny clusters will require 300 NP above the requirement to bump the implant by 1 QL. 600 NP to bump it 2 QLs, 900 to bump it 3 QLs.. etc..

Bright clusters will require 200 NP above the requirements to bump the implant by 1 QL, 400 for 2, 600 for 3... etc..

Faded clusters will require 100 NP above the requirements to bump the implant by 1 QL, 200 for 2, 300 for 3.. etc..

Enjoy :P

Implants gain ql's when they are put together.

This information is invaluable when you start to twink and need to create implants of exact final ql's (however some target ql's are impossible to create from the basic implants bought in shops)

This is good info :)

Cos I wondered about this some time ago,
I had blitzed a ql 225 imp and 3 ql 225 clusters.
But when I put it together it 'bumped' to 231.

Where I thought it would only bump if the cluster(s) was higher
than the implant. Obviously not :wink:

Yep, this is "neat" for sub-201 implants, because you can upgrade them to a specific QL by bumping them and then having them cleaned, rinse, wash repeat.

For implants over QL200 this can be a real -problem- as those can't be cleaned and when you get into the 250+ imps you get to implants that people have to twink on even at high levels.

Not all people have the money or are alts of a main that has the money. So not all people wear ql 200 imps at lv 1.

Been there, done that :P

Glad you guys like the guide if i find anything else that is really usefull i will be sure to post!! 8)

BTW i did check about the ql1-49 imps not bumping cause i had never tried to assemble my own imps in that lvl range & i wasnt quite certain if the guide was correct but it all checked out.

Enjoy the implant combining process.

QL201-249: 4 QLs per cluster
QL250-299: 5 QLs per cluster
For people who read like me, reverse the order of the above and the below sections.
(Basically it's the QL of the implant, divided by 50 and rounded down..)

Shiny clusters will require 300 NP above the requirement to bump the implant by 1 QL. 600 NP to bump it 2 QLs, 900 to bump it 3 QLs.. etc..

Bright clusters will require 200 NP above the requirements to bump the implant by 1 QL, 400 for 2, 600 for 3... etc..

Faded clusters will require 100 NP above the requirements to bump the implant by 1 QL, 200 for 2, 300 for 3.. etc..

Enjoy :P
In other words, a QL250+ implant can be bumped up to 5 QLs per cluster if you have enough NP, whereas no matter how much NP you have, a QL50 implant won't bump more than 1 QL and a QL49 implant won't be bumped at all.

I just had a hard time putting that together in my head right, so I decided to run a test:

Blitzed a QL218 Basic imp (ear) and a QL218 Shiny, Bright and Faded cluster.

Then Lordkosh logged on and had almost exactly the NP needed to do the Shiny combine. His NP was 1040.

* QL218 Basic Imp + QL218 Shiny cluster
... NP needed: 1035
... Resulting QL: 218 (same, no bump)

* QL218 Shiny Imp + QL218 Bright cluster
... NP needed: 817 (meaning Kosh was 213 above the needed skill)
... Resulting QL: 219 (+1)

* QL218 Shiny Bright Imp + QL218 Faded cluster
... NP needed: 657 (Kosh was 383 over)
... Resulting QL: 221 (+2)

Couldn't compare on the Shiny but on the Bright we supposedly need 200 NP more than minimum to bump 1 QL. That worked.

For the Faded we supposedly should have bumped it by 3 since we were more than 300 over the min NP needed. That didn't work. It only bumped by 2. So something is wrong with the formula, since by Grind's post 383 extra NP should have bumped a QL219 implant by 3 QLs resulting in a QL222.

Is this important for -most- people? No, but it will be important on twinking specific locations.
