BIG technical issue with Items Assistant

For a few days, I've experienced a very bad issue with Items Assistant.

When I start IA, the program opens but I have permanently a blinking hourglass cursor, and IA is totally "lagged", close to totally frozen, in fact impossible to use.

This means I can't monitor or search my banks but even worse I can't search and monitor ORG BANKS either!

• I downloaded the last version of IA, no change.
  
  I went back to my previous one, no change.
  
  I deleted everything including the databases IA creates, and reinstalled from scratch, no change.
  
  I stopped my AVAST anti-virus real time shields, no change. (I can try to stop them all, even the ones not related to what IA does but anyhow I had no issue before).
  
  I upgraded to AVAST 6, no change.

Theoretically, I did nothing on my computer that could affect IA.

A virus scan shows nothing (I'll redo one) and a malware scan with Spybot Search and Destroy doesn't show anything either.


Anyone got a clue, a direction, something? Not being able to manage org banks and respond to your requests for items (buff items or supplies) is simply dramatic.

Could a DLL used by IA be corrupted? Not sure what it uses and it would be something not used by another program, as all the system seems fine.

have had a similar problem with AO, and dropping offline, but I think it's related to the internet.

check that you done have some variant of the active user thing going on, where AIAO is trying to access a file, and it's not fulfilliing the active user thingy...


maybe check properties and make sure AO and AO database, and AIAO aren't admin only or something?

I did a fast forums search. I found this thread. Are you running Windows7 or Vista? The last page has a post (post 403) where the person attributes problems like you saw to UAC which is a feature of those OperatingSystems.

An interesting thing with the post is that apparently you can start the executable with a parameter that causes it to log. I tested this out and it works. Close IA and open it again from a command line like this

C:\Games\AnarchyOnlineItemsAssistant>ItemAssistant.exe -log

You'll see that a log file is generated in the same directory.

Post 410 has a possible theory too.

Thanks for ideas so far. I'll try the log thing first. I saw on IA forums that the author mentioned looking in the log for some other issues but I had no idea how to get this log.

Maybe I'll find something. I'll tell you.

I started IA with "-log" to try finding a clue.

If I start IA before AO, the log shows

"Couldn't locate Anarchy Online Window"

and I get the permanently a blinking hourglass cursor

If I start IA after OA, the log shows the following and and I get the permanently a blinking hourglass cursor as well:
