Sad to say i have reinstalled AO and believe it or not its worse....so long story short Im not sure when I will be back to the game again...for sure it wont be this week at all... i had hoped to play until family arrived on monday but thats not going to happen...soooo..
Have fun and enjoy and a Happy Thanksgiving to All that celebrate and to those of you who dont...well have a great week!!
Seems to be only AO ... I get the highest anywhere in game is 8 fps but normal is only 1-2 fps...
I have now gone thru almost everything....installed WEbroot Spy Sweeper (found a few memory stealers there-took care of them)... installed Peer Guardian (amazing what info is captured)...defraged about 6 times...ran anti-virus complete scan (only found one issue- taken care of)...updated all drivers...took out video card...reinstalled video card...took out memory reinstalled memory...ran a memory checker (all fine)...changed settings ingame to lowest...changed to medium and changed to highest and a few settings inbetween...still nothing...uninstalled AO...reinstalled AO....my video card is working just fine (cant say its optimum but its fine)....the last 4 patches have done me in and just got worse this last patch has put me out of even moving now....My system specs below (again not the greatest but should be able to play ao without this much problem)
MotherBoard – ECS K8T890-A (Elitegroup)
Chip – AMD 64
Memory – 2 -512mb EP DDR sticks –Patriot sticks both of them ((PC3200 400 MHz Eased Latency))
Video Card – 128mb (Saffire) ATI Radeon 9500 Series
Hard Drive - Maxtor DiamondMax 10 250GB Hard Drive
(PATA-133, 7,200RPM,16MB - MPN: 6L250R0
Slave Drive – Western Digital - WDC WD400BB-53DEA0 –/05.03E05> [77545/16/63]
Windows XP-Pro
It should be ok Hexy... I'm playing AO on a similar system (also 128 MB VRAM, 512MB RAM, AMD64... etc.)
However, no idea why it lags so much Try killing a few processes before starting AO that you know you don't need? Ctrl-Alt-Del, hit the processes tab and terminate a few things that you know of what it is (and that you can miss ofcourse). Next reboot they will be there again, but this gets you the chance to play AO at least!
AO and Windows are the only things residing on my master HD so no other processes are running when AO is up..
Memory was checked completely both sticks and booted system with only one in at a time to ensure that and I even moved them around...no memory issues..
No memory managing software running.
Rolled back video drivers.
I ran RTCW last night and that game rocked 90 fps in single player mode with no issues at all. So I know 2 things with that...one video card is fine...and two did not realize how much I had missed that game.
Anyway I have posted on AO Forums yet again. This issue is a AO issue not a my computer issue. So maybe they will offer helps (doubt it) or a new patch may fix things, as it seems im not the only one (and i double doubt they will)...but ill hang in there...my acct is good until mid december so im crossing fingers...
