Preliminary release notes for 17.0.3

Post by Mortus »

These are the preliminary release notes for this weeks update (we are planning for it to be released on Thursday), disclaimer as always some of these are still being tested and might not make the live update.

Version 17.0.3

- Victory points for the Battlestations have been substantially increased.

- The difficulty of mobs in the alien mothership missions have been balanced better.

- Personal Research actions should now land on the correct targets.

- Personal Research actions should now no longer fail to time out.

- Personal Research actions have been changed so that they should now work with any initiative type, meaning they are no longer restricted to one of ranged, melee or fists but work regardless of what weapon is being used.

- Meta Physicist personal research actions are now in game correctly and using their correct procs.

- Personal Research actions should now match their descriptions for all professions.

- Pelisse of Elysian Nymph should now display correctly on Solitus males

- You are no longer able to use Orbital Strikes in Shadowlands

- OFAB Shark MK6 has been improved

- OFAB Silverback Mk 6 has been improved

- OFAB Hawk MK6 Has had its skill requirements reduced

- OFAB Tiger Mk6 has had its skill requirements reduced

Now for some updates in addition as I am sure the above is already prompting a few questions in relation to these fixes and changes.

What do you mean by substantially increased the VP for battlestations?

The amount has been modified to allow players at attain victory points at a much better rate. Winning a high level battlestation will award over 1,000 VP

What do you mean by 'improved' for the Shark and the Silverback?

The Shark has had its attack times reduced to 1.5/1.5 and its damage slightly increased and the Silverback has had it damage and crit bonus increased.

How much have the skills been reduced by for the Hawk and the Tiger?

The requirements have been reduced by 100 for the primary skill which means the fullauto is reduced by around 90 on the Hawk and the Aimed Shot by around 40 on the Tiger.
So, they actually seems to have listened to the community! Less FA req for the SMG (Hawk), and more damage for the Shotgun (Silverback). Can't find anything bad here. Oh, and it will probably put an end to easy missions for AXP so roll away now if you want those levels! (hmm, maybe I should take my own advice on this).

...and of course: 1k VPs for a BS win.

edit: reading a bit closer it reveals that only the MK6 Hawk (2 handed smg) has its requirements recuded. Too bad since it's worse in all aspects then the MK5. So basically it's a fix that didn't do anything but give hope and then crush it :P

Quoting a post from Breaks on AO bulletin board, it pretty much sums up the change affecting fixers (he is responding to a post by Silirrion ):

All too funny really...
I did not post this thread about the MK5. You have made it clear that fixers aren't intended to be using it at QL300. I'm not sure then who is, or what makes the QL300 so much unbalancingly better than the QL275, but that's another discussion entirely.

I posted this thread about the MK6, which, while now possible to equip, is still significantly harder to equip than any other Ofab weapon with the possible exception of the bow.

The funny thing is, you mention that the MK6 is the option for non-powergamers. Well, a non-powergamer will never get 1900 Full Auto, so it's not an option for them. It's not an option for people who CAN get that much full auto, either, because the ONE handed version DOES MORE DAMAGE, AT LOWER QL, EVEN WITHOUT DUELING IT WITH A WEAPON THAT ADDS DIFFERENT SPECIAL ATTACKS.

I've said it before and I'll say it again....I WISH the MK6 was an option, but in it's current state, it is not.

The MK4 is the only current ofab "option" for non-duel wielding, non-powergaming optimizers, and it does less damage than the QL300 Kyr'Ozch Submachine Gun - Type 5, which was our pre-existing option for non-duel wielding people, while having higher requirements.

I fully recognize that at this time you do not want to change the MK5. Okay. Then make the MK6 a viable option.

Thanks.
