Post by Grind42 »

DO NOT change your account info if you get this.

Note from Chrisax: I neutralized the phishing email by using a Code area, so you can't click on it by error.
I am sorry but after review ,you would get your account banned if you didnt confirm this mail, your account has afraudulence issue please change your account's email to

Code: Select all

Accounts-anarchy@live.com
by editing it from http://register.funcom.com so we can confirm your information to the new credit card you have only 2 days to do this change, if not you'll be banned untill you do it Best Regards, GM Odum Funcom Support

Thanks Grind.

1) Basically, some guy opened an account on a Microsoft service (live.com is MS) with a name looking like Anarchy.

2) Grind could you please, in your email software, look at the properties of the email message and the source code, and paste it here? (Or send it in PM to me, if you don't know how to remove your OWN email address from the source code and want to keep it confidential)
(If you use Outlook Express, R-click message, Properties, Details tab, Source)

3) In general:
- FC will NEVER email you "out of the blue" and ask you for your password or confidential info
- NEVER click on a URL in messages that are not identified; always enter URLs in your software by typing them!
- Check that all the messages and sites that claim they come from/belong to Funcom really come from (exactly spelled like this):
funcom.com
or
anarchy-online.com
- To do that for web URLs, look at the status bar of your browser with the mouse over the link. (The status bar can be turned off/on in the menus of your browser)
- The correct URL for FunCom accounts page is https://register.funcom.com/account/
The "s" denotes a secured connection
-In-game, if someone says he is an ARK or a GM, first do a !whois on his name: GMs and ARKs names are NOT in the names database and the whois will return nothing. Second, do /cc addbuddy nameoftheperson: you can't put ARKS and GMs on your friends list or any list (unless you are a GM or an ARK yourself). The second operation counters hackers that create a new character which is not yet in the database, and pretends to be an ARK/GM.
-No ARK or GM is level 1 or 2 or 5, etc. None has a very small life bar. (ARKS get levels on the base of the time spent in the ARK service.)
