So I decided to do what noobs did and order from Amazon.

I could download the program and I could use a proxy to log in to website and allow me to purchase but then when trying to pay it won't let me select an address not in USA or Canada and hence my CC won't be accepted. What a hassle.

So any case the game should arrive 25th and I should roll a toon around then.

I have read your CoC and I don't agree to it and also I want to ninja loot all of your phatz. But I do that in AO and you still let me in.

I don't know what toon names I will use or anything, will see what's available. I wonder is LukeSkywalker taken?

on that note, once we all have a level 50 we're going to need to figure out a raiding schedule - because from what I can see, it's ALL about the Hard Mode raid bosses that provide all teh loots needed to get your endgame gear+battlemaster gears.

you'll hit level 10 in no time.

smuggler is great, but, let me give you a word of advice. Plan carefully, you will make a FINAL decision on your char's abilities and Spec (specialization) at level 10, so, BE warned!!

I rolled a smuggler, and went gunslinger at level 10, the alternate choice is scoundrel.

DPS is fun, >>>BUT<<< as a gunslinger, you ONLY can be DPS.

If you choose gunslinger you will play an extremely offensive roll: kill fast, kill hard, DD/DPS FAST OMG go FASTER, or die.

That said, you kill extremely quickly, it's a lot of fun, you're needed in teams, and, most content is not that difficult.

In pvp, a gunslinger must kill his opponent, use range, kiting, roots and knockbacks to produce kills and stay alive.


On the other hand, a scoundrel can do DPS OR healing, but, the DPS is slightly more difficult to come up with the same numbers a true DPS class can do (gunslinger).

Obviously, as a healer spec scoundrel, you'll have loads of heals, you'll have slower DPS, and you'll also be well needed in teams.

In PVP the scoundrel has been rated among the hardest to kill, and often has many commendations for healing and survival in warzones.

From what I've heard, a healer scoundrel can solo every planet with a tank companion (first companion is a tank) up to level 40 with ease.

Yes I just went for it as the info for it sounded quite good. I read the what I wish I knew thread, but it's so hard to know what they are referring to without having a point of reference. So I think I will just keep reading forums and info and play. I am more of a learn by doing and seeing rather than going back and reading forums.

Rojo, just thinking about where we're going to be in a month or two...

You and I are going to have to really step up our game here, and get very proactive about building decent friendships in game with people who are online at the same time as we are.

Secondly, I'll tell you straight off, since I am DPS (alt is tank), your best bet would be to go scoundrel... We REALLY REALLY need to plan our specs complimentary to each other.

When you are hitting 50 with your toon (6-8 weeks from now), we're going to want to have a well balanced crew for raiding (you can't raid with 3 tanks, or 2 healers and a DPS), you MUST have a tank, a healer, a DPS, and an extra for many many many aspects of this game, so, I hate to say this, but take my advice and go scoundrel spec at level 10, because it'll make things lots smoother 2 months from now.

In all honesty, I probably would have rather to rolled scoundrel than pure DPS, but I took gunslinger because it sounded cool, and I haven't had any problems yet.. but, scoundrel is 3 or 4 times more adaptable, especially because of the re-speccing capability.

From my little experience with smugglers; scoundrel is able to handle more situations than gunslinger (which is a damage animal), thanks to the heals and a few other things. It depends of course on the companion (when you solo or team with one person) but end game is tough for companions, especially if they don't have top gear too. You just can't have yourself well geared and have your companion left behind. Nadia's equipment, for example, is a expensive as mine. (This girl costs me a fortune but, hey, she sends me valentines and writes love letters and poetry to me! )


But take your time to progress and learn.

as GS or Scoundrel, you can use corso from level 10-45 without a problem.

I'm going to swap over to Guss at 45 and gear him completely I think.

Edit: btw what did you choose for your class? GS or scoundrel?

I went scoundrel.

I have no idea what gear is good or bad. I have, on average, lvl 30 gear and Corso is about the same.

So far i find the game ok. Lots of just running running running, its kinda over the top with running. This must be how RK was when AO started.

I got to 11 very fast and then its been just grind grind grind.

Rojo, don't rush too much if you have a grind feeling.

Good items for you are, as a general rule, the ones that boost Cunning and Endurance always, as those are your two main skills. The rest is a bonus.

You can't equip gear above your level (it's not AO) so "good gear" for your level means blue, orange, purple gear BUT green gear is fine to level calmly! Also some green gear is sometimes better than most items you could find: it's the case with companions weapons, often, some companions' gear (not all, by far).

If your equipment is roughly at your level or a bit below, and has like 1/3 of blue+ items, you're all fine to level now. That will become much harder around 35ish and then 44ish and you'll need clearly better items. I still have a purple level 33 bracer because it's better than all I can find, wherever I look ATM.

You'll get Sprint soon (14), this will change your life and the speeder is a relief at level 25.

i have lvl 14, and i assume sprint is an ability i have to train from the trainer?

i dont really die, i just run and kill things in groups of 3-5 but its kinda all the same at this lvl, target, throw a bomb, Corso grappels one, chuck a detonater, shoot it, another bomb and spam 1 the whole time.

Repeat.

I find already I just try to skip killing things as much as possible as its just a pain.

So far i'm doing mish on Coruscant rolling what ever i can.

I met a dude to do the 2+ on oda mantell and now need to find ppl to do the ones on coruscant, problem is i need the team things to lvl my social and its not even lvl 1.

Sprint is from your trainer, yes.

Kill strategy will get more complicated soon, as mobs will get smarter and tougher.

That said, I understand you when you say you try to avoid fights to get to your quests.

At level 44 I only got about 25% to social level 1.

I don't know what it's used for yet, and don't REALLY care.

I'm more annoyed that WZ doesn't run on aussie timezone at ALL.
