Funcom struggling in the norwegian stockmarket.

Today Funcom presented the numbers from the The Secret World launch to the stock market and it was not what the market wanted to see and the stock went rapidly down. Short version is sales are not that good and a 74 out of 100 score on the Metacritic site. Good news tho is that the players already playing is very happy with the game and gives it a good score so the long term sales and future of the game may be positive.

It's not the first time Funcom have trouble and i guess they will survive through this too. I tyhink they have a very good product with TSW and hope they can continue to develop it even if they have to let some people go to cut cost.. Another issue is that it is new times and business models in the mmo market with the f2p models of various kinds.. Not easy to choose the right business model for your game now.

Just a note: Metacritic is garbage in this case. They are listing critics and ratings from reviewers who obviously didn't play TSW for real and gave terrible ratings, along with decent reviews, some positive some less positive.

I think you are right Chris but obviously the stockmarket in Norway rate Metacritic high.. Anyway my faith in this game is only strenghten after i have seen all the happy players in game and on the official forums..i think this TSW will be good business even if it woould take longer than the accountants like..

I wonder if they'll ever follow through on a console option. That'd help keep some more lights on at Funcom, eh?

Depending on the game you were talking about. It would be just too hard to do some of the options in AO as you need a point and click and if I had to twink on alphas using the r-stick I'd probably kill myself.

With TSW it may be possible, it would just be difficult. Particularly for chat.
