You could possibly receive an email from FC's Mathis. You'll find a sample below.

You can COPY two characters from the live servers to the beta (now you understand why they first implemented the characters transfer system weeks ago)

The pacth is 150 MB... just so you know.

Note that you also might have two messages for the same user. In that case, one is probably wrong and the second contains

"CORRECTION: Apologise for the previous mail, it was sent in error. This mail has been corrected to include the account that has been flagged."

Funcom has flagged your account (*****) and you should be able to connect to the beta dimension by using your login info.

There are a few steps that you have to go through in order to be able to log on.

First;

You have to accept the Funcom Lost Eden User Agreement. You can do this by using the link below. Remember that the only way to get access is that you use your username and password in the fields at the bottom of the User Agreement page.

Second;

Make a copy of your fully patched up live client (currently 16.4.4) and replace the DimensionServer.url, available at http://ark.funcom.com/Public/dimension.zip (You must unzip it first!!)

You should find the DimensionServer.url located in the Anarchy Online folder;

\Anarchy Online\cd_image\data\launcher

We are also offering you the chance to copy up to 2 characters from the live dimensions to beta.

To copy a character simply log into the Character Copy Tool and choose a character to copy. The copying process may take up to 30 minutes, and you must be offline on all dimensions for the copying process to be successful.

Within the next few hours you will also get access to the Lost Eden Beta section of the Anarchy Online forums. We will announce more information during the next couple days. Our main goal by inviting you to the beta now is to cover the potential bugs with download of client etc. The beta server itself is still not ready with the latest patch, so give it a couple hours before you start the patching from live to betasite.

If this does not work please report it on the Beta forums.

Ive done a full copy of the AO folder,

So far ive downloaded 1 - 150mb patch and now having to donwload a 2nd 150mb patch

That's normal Siil. The first is the main LE beta; the others are the patches on that fist beta.

Btw has anyone got one of the following they can lend me to transfer:

300 CSS set
250 CC Set
300 Supple set
RBP
GOC/GOS

I realise these are all very expensive items and i cant really offer much

You just need to borrow them until your character is copied. You can give them back after that. You have nothing to offer.

I got it for my main account (and yeah, got the double emails, thinking I had it for both accounts). Wish I had more play time this month, but am starting to get it copied now.

To be honest, I think I'll copy them, see the basics, and then be back in "real" AO to farm dynas while some of the PvPers are busy playing around : )

Chris, you sure this is how you wanna do it? Even FC's email says to -copy- your existing AO installation. Like a Test server installation. That's what I'm doing.

If you do this to your existing client, you are patching it up to a higher version and even if you revert the .url file you won't be able to play.

I'm re-reading this thread just to make sure that I didn't misinterpret anything, but I don't think so ... let me repeat:

COPY your installation ... don't risk your "real" client.

PS. Sill, GoS is NODROP I believe.

PPS. Looks like downloading is slowing to a crawl ... I have a 1.5Mb connection, been downloading 10 minutes, and its still projecting 3 hours to finish.

IF you've started downloading but haven't FINISHED and you want to do the copy but started by editing your "real" client:

If you have more than 30 minutes on your download, just copy your "Anarchy Online" directory to another location.

If you have less than 30min you're really running a risk of it starting to patch while you are copying. You may want to consider aborting the download and re-downloading.

No way to know if the beta patch everyone is downloading now will be the final LE client. And if its not, you may need to reinstall to play when LE comes out (and WILL have to reinstall to play on RK2 -before- LE comes out unless they've removed the patch checking).

About installing the beta: DrHyde you are perfectly right... the problem is I had ALREADY the LE client installed (only had to copy characters from live) and I read the email too fast (and misread actually) and what I posted to help people was of course not the good method.

I hope I caused no problem to anyone. I removed the post.
